I would have to say that depends on what team you are. If your a team like the Sixers that has some talent why not move up a little if he drops and take a chance. If your the Bobcats you would be nuts to.

I agree with most everything you said. But here’s my question: Would you take Drummond in the lottery, over better prospects that are still on the board? Despite the motor issues, the lackluster year, etc?

The Andre Blatche comparison is flawed also he had the best year of his career at 25 years old. 16 and 8 a game. He is a head case yes but he has developed albeit slowly.

I don’t disagree that he is a risk but all big men are. How many of these guys with a polished offensive game are going to turn out to be nothing more than Spencer Hawes. I think big men, more centers are extremely hard to predict. Calling him a waste is foolish a risk yes, but no more than Bynum was.

I continue to fail to understand how Drummond is rated higher than Tyler Zeller. Zeller has a much more polished offensive game, runs the floor better than any big man in this draft, and is a solid rebounder and defender. Zeller will be a solid center for years. Just because he doesn’t scream “superstar” doesn’t mean he can’t be a franchise center for a long time.

I pity the GM that wastes their lottery pick on Drummond. It’s a shame that he’ll be rewarded for his lackluster season at UCONN by being drafted in the top 10. GM’s don’t learn from the past. Hasheem Thabeet was drafted number 2 overall for no reason other than his tremendous height and shot blocking prowess in college. Andre Drummond has Hasheem Thabeet written all over his forehead, yet he’ll be drafted high anyway. I just hope for the fans sake that Portland doesn’t take him.

Huge, athletic center who supposedly can do it all…but he has no real offensive game (terrible shooter and low-post moves), barely rebounded in college (7.6/gm), and whose defense/blocking is probably overrated since his focus on it gets him out of position based on his really low defensive rebounding numbers, plus his team severely underperformed — yeah, I’d go with definitely pass on this joke.
