I love Dwyane Wade’s game and the fire in his belly. His philosophy seems to be: If you can’t be good at everything be great at a few things. He entered the league as an atrocious shooter, a huge disadvantage for a 6’1″ shooting guard, and he’ll leave as a subpar shooter. He knew he’d never transform into the model 2-guard so he attacked relentlessly and developed a handful of unpredictable moves. Now comes the inevitable landslide where all the punishment doled onto his body catches up to him… and he still can’t shoot.

I imagine he’ll ride it out with the Heat for another couple seasons, playing 30 minutes and scoring 18 a game. His decline may benefit the Heat since Wade can no longer go alpha dog on LeBron. It’s LBJ’s team now; let’s see what he does with it!

If wade’s light has dimmed in Miami, it’s because lebron and bosh are showing up big in these finals. It’s not all because of his poor play, I think most people can see that he’s not right physically and won’t hold that against him.

At this time of year it really is just about fighting through and coaxing two more strong performances out of a player’s body. Wade has brought great tenacity to this series, but his close range misses speak to some level of explosion missing from the way he elevates and extends through contact.

No excuses, Wade needs to find a way to make those shots.

But he will miss the Olympics and I’m betting on arthroscopic knee surgery within 2 weeks of the NBA season ending.
