you can argue the fact that the TWolves didn’t get enough but at the time Boston did not want to deal Al Jefferson. The Twolves turned around and traded Jefferson for two first round picks(in 2010) and that was not enough value for him.

KG didn’t owe them the wolves anything. he played his heart out for 12 years there on mostly mediocre teams.

however, they got fleeced in the KG trade. the reason they are on the rise now is because they sucked bad enough to be in position to draft love and rubio

I love how people assume the Celtics run was a joke and they couldn’t do it again. Remember 2010? Everyone said the same thing. If they bring KG back and let Allen walk(I would sign him if I were Danny), they have the ability to add some guys. Avery Bradley and Jeff Green(most likely) will be on this team. So say the Celts add Chris Kaman in the middle w/KG, you still have Pierce and Rondo. That team can make a run next year if kept together(plus or minus one guy).

He’s going to be a Celtic or a retiree, and like I have said in here for the last 3 months, I think he hangs them up….& why would the Spurs be a perfect fit? They don’t have nearly the cap space and Duncan and Garnett hate each other.

Minnesota had to trade Garnett because he was the only piece on that roster of any value and they weren’t close to contenders. They lost multiple first round picks from the Joe Smith fiasco and had no way to build. By trading Garnett Minnesota was able to reload. It took a little longer than expected(4 years) but you are now seeing a Minnesota team on the rise. Garnett didn’t demand a trade and by all accounts seems like an extremely loyal guy. Care to rationalize your comment? Are you even from Minnesota or a T’Wolves fan?

i think you have to give garnett credit, he never publicly asked for a trade. the team itself was pretty crappy, they almost made the finals in 2004 but it was only buoyed by how dominant a player he was that yr, evidenced by the fact they failed to make the playoffs after that. the only reason he got traded was because of mchales ties to boston.

there was a rumour a few yrs ago about a comment that KG had made in reference to Timmy’s mother who had passed away from cancer. of course who knows if its true, but if all of the other stories we’ve all heard about KG are true (he also reportedly called charlie villanueva a cancer patient) then this one wouldn’t seem so far fetched. if thats the case there is no way in hell Spurs management disrepect duncan by bringing him in no matter how attractive a frontcourt that it may be.

Although he really doesn’t need the money, he played his way into what will probably be offers of 2 years and $20 million.

Thats tough to say no to, and there’s a lot of teams that might view his playoff play as what they need to put them over the top.

While I think KG isn’t fond of change, and would probably prefer to remain with Rivers and the Celtics, I expect the Lakers to make a push to have him play close to home. That would be a huge plus for them, and it would be fun to watch our resident clown, bozo, flip flop once again and go from KG hater to his biggest fan.

Garnett’s 2012 post-season was his best since the Celtics championship run. When he started putting up 20-10 every night I suspected that KG was giving everything he had left. Obviously he can come back and still be good BUT the secret to this Celtics team is that it only goes as far as Kevin Garnett takes them. He’s a brilliant defender and a very effective rebounder/shooter. He’s the Celtics “heartbeat” as Doc Rivers says.

Garnett is so competitive, so intense that I would not be surprised if he walks away now after a great season. Or maybe he talks himself into another run if Jeff Green comes back and the Celtics pick up a couple good players via draft/free agency. I’m a LeBron fan so I would love for the Celtics to start rebuilding but I still have a lot of respect, especially for KG.

I kind of suspected KG had this on his mind all along. I think what we saw during this playoff run was everything he had left in the tank. Garnett comes across as a jerk on the floor, but there’s nothing fake about that dude. A lot of people talk about giving their all, but KG is one of the few that actually does it. Respect.

outside of doc rivers and being loyal, KG to Spurs looks to be absolutely perfect for both sides.
