whoever it is, i can’t imagine they’ll be that happy with their decision 3-4 years from now. Waiters is a really undersized shooting/scoring guard… those don’t do that well in the NBA unless their name is Allen Iverson or even Ben Gordon.

Actually, no. His agent is Rob Pelinka, the same agent who represents Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant, Eric Gordon and James Harden among others. He probably knows what he’s doing, and it’s extremely unlikely that a team would want to break a promise to such a powerful agent.

And having followed Dion pretty closely for the last 2 years, I can assure you that he is the opposite of lazy. The kid works his tail off and was humble enough to come off the bench when he was the best player on the team.

What an incredibly myopic decision. I would think promises only matter when that team has the #1 or #2 overall pick. Why limit your upside because some team in the middle of the first round made a revokable decision? What if a higher-rated player slips down the draft? Would the promisor really bypass that value because they made some nonbinding promise to a prospect?

even if he has a promise…stopping workouts is a huge negative for a player who already has commitment and dedication concerns. Most highly competitive people (ie the better professional atheletes) would take any an all workouts to show everyone how great they are. This shows he is lazy and not motivate in my eyes…whats he going to do if he gets some money…”its cool guys, i have promise for $$$, im not practicing anymore”
