00maltliquor, you have been hitting the bottle a lot. Evans would not command any lottery pick. He has shot so poorly, he might only bring a pick past #23 or #24. Why would they extend his contract when no team is sure he is still top talent. Other teams would want him ONLY if he has LESS money owed if he does not work out
Evans won ROY because he took a lot of shots and scored a lot, not because he played PG all that well. He is the same 45% shooter he was in college and he does not defend well at any position. Kings are not often smart but waiting for Evans to show he can improve is wise.
Teams don’t “fall out of love” with players. Same as with Mayo, players fail to improve or regress and the team is left with hope he will improve or feel they wasted a pick.

No, SAC has been anything but smart. Evans was a ROY player at PG, and SAC followed that up by shifting him to SG and ruining it. I understand if they realized the “me-first” style of PG he was wasnt going to work, BUT THEN YOU TRADE HIM, not switch his position. Can you imagine what SAC could have gotten for him after his rookie year? They could have gotten a king’s ransom for the “franchise PG”.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Same thing with MEM benching Oj Mayo after his ROY caliber rookie year. If you fall out of love with that type of player, trade him. TRADE WHEN VALUE IS HIGH. They are not getting anything of value for Evans now.

The Kings are idiots. Even if they don’t intend to keep him why can’t they still extend him and make him look better to other teams since he would have more years on his contract? Dude was a 20-5-5 guy a couple years ago, they shouldn’t give up on him especially since their other gaurds are short (Thomas, Fredette, Thornton). Maybe extend him and trade him to the Bobcats for that #2 pick and draft MKG.

Tyreke Evans is too talented to still be on the Kings. Evans didn’t win rookie of the year in 2010 based off luck. That showed he has the potential. They should trade him for the best deal possible. He just doesn’t fit into the Kings scheme. In this case Sacramento can actually get a very good deal bargaining Tyreke.

They can’t afford to pay him, they have to get commensurate ability on the cheap (i.e. the draft).

I don’t think it’s about paying him as much as it is about how he fits with the team, and what they could get in trade for him. They’re doing the smart thing and waiting, instead of being stuck with him if he doesn’t fit in Sacto.

Maybe he gets dealt on draft day. He is talented but I’m not sure him and Cousins together is the type of culture you want to commit to.

I d be surprised if Evans is still in Sacramento by training camp and shocked if he isn’t gonna by deadline. Maloofs don’t want to pay him, it is as simple as that.
