Duane,

I'm talking about the officiating in game 1 of Knicks Heat. I don't know why you are mentioning the series. That has nothing to do with anything. This thread is about Boston Miami. The Knicks had too many injuries to important players to compete fully.

Even with that your point makes no sense. The Knicks had 15 offensive rebounds to the Heat's 13 in that game. The game was close going into the middle of the 2nd qtr and then the refs took over with non-stop charging calls and illegal screens on everyone. You can't beat 5 players and 3 refs.

OK, lots of you didn't like that I posted the absolute truth. I can prove it though, going forward. If there is ever a time when no calls are questioned by anyone, with replay, in any sport having officials then I am wrong. And if complaining is ever effective in changing an outcome retroactively then I would be wrong in that case. The best approach for players remains to forget it and play harder faster than the other team, as Rondo did. Just sayin--just is!

I was damn mad when my Lakurz lost to OKC and i sure was not happy when Miami beat Indiana or went 2-0 up against Celtics. Oh wait... Isn't the purpose of the NBA to bring entertainment?
I never said 'home-cooking'. I don't think the refs are biased or specifically out to screw either team.
Just that when you are in a building as racous as TD Gardens, it takes a lot of courage to make a call go against Boston. The fans there are truly pyscho, and if you don't think that gets into the refs heads, you're flat out ignorant. That double-foul on Garnett & Lebron - the fans would have gone nuts if the ref only gave the foul to Garnett (which was deserved).

Btw - gross number of fouls don't mean anything. You have to point to specific plays because some teams like to attack the rim more, and obviously they'd get more fouls. Boston takes a lot of jumpers (which they seem to be making in this series) than Miami, or at least when Miami decides to be aggressive. Therefore, you'd expect more fouls to be called on Boston than Miami. That's basic basketball. For instance, Garnett rarely attacks the rim (he likes to take 8 - 12 foot turnaround jumpers), so you wouldn't expect him to draw contact. Same with Ray Allen. Lebron and Wade, on the other hand, are at their best when they are attacking the rim with everything they got.

Anyways, my point is, from here on out, don't complain about Miami receiving preferential treatment. Boston had no business winning this game, but the way the refs called it bailed them out.

Like I said before, it would be hypocritical of me to blame this on the refs. Had Miami played even slightly better defense in the first half, they would have won this game. But I'm tired of Celtics fans complaining about the refs. You have the biggest flopper in the history of the game on your team (Paul Pierce) and the dirtiest player in the game (Garnett). And refs always favour Boston on their homecourt.

That series back in the day btwn the Lakers & Kings was another example of bad officiating with everything going the Lakers way.

What's wrong with me pointing out bad officiating ??

So what?? The fouls could be 500 for Miami and 5 for Boston. What does that mean??

Are you serious. The knicks are lucky they won a game. Counting fouls is not indicative of one team not getting fair shakes.

The disparity in fouls showed that one team knows how to crash the offensive boards consistently (as they've been doing all year), as opposed to having a a lone superstar that plays isolation with jump shots.

I can't see your arguement.

In game 2, the call probably should have went against Wade on Rondo. Some ppl have said various replays don't show Wade touching Rondo's face at all. I don't know for sure, that's my view. But had Wade gotten that foul, there's no proof Boston would have won the game.

borderline,

I'm a die hard Knicks fan so I can be unbiased because I hate both of these teams, but you have to be kidding me.

The refs idea of home cooking for the Celtics is to call the game evenly in Boston. Their idea of home cooking for the Heat is what happened in game 2 where Boston got called for almost twice as many fouls as the heat, Lebron had 5 less free throws than the Celtics combined, the Celtics had 3 guys foul out where Miami didn't have any players with more than 4 fouls, and Wade and James had 4 fouls combined.

I thought game 1 Knicks-Heat was the worst officiated game ever until I watched Game 2 Celtics-Heat.

The officiating for the Western Conference Finals and the ECF is like night and day. Why? Because the NBA doesn't care which one of them comes out of the west. It's great either way. They are dying for the Lebron story in the finals again and it shows. NBA = WWE

The travelling call on Garnett and the non-call on Wade's strip of Pierce were the only bad calls going against Boston.
Every other borderline call went against Miami, including the fouling out of the MVP of the league, which was due to 4 BS calls. Remember that charge that Pierce took when he was clearly in the arc? Or the one that Pietrus took when he certainly was moving? That's besides the obvious BS calls on Jame's 5th and 6th fouls.

And let's not even talk about the 1rst half, when the refs were handing out and-1s to Boston every time they scored. Or that absolutely brutal call on Ray Allen being way out of bounds that led directly to a 3pt shot.

This was the poorest referred game yet in these playoffs (by any measure) and Boston reaped the benefits of it. As soon as Lebron fouled out, everyone knew that the game was over.

At the end of the day, having home advantage gets you some calls. Miami got a key non-call in game 2, Boston got at least 3 or 4 key calls in game 4.
Both times, the opposing team had legitimate arguments that the refs screwed up and handed the game to the other side.
You can't delve on these things, but Boston fans should never complain about referring, b/c when they play in TD Gardens, they always get the calls.
And Garnett is a dirty, drity player who should be fouling out every game. He has mastered the innocent flailing arms or fouling players when refs aren't looking. If there was a ref trained only on Garnett, he would foul out every game before the first quarter is over.

I figured that out ten years ago watching the Lakers-Kings series, and my interest in the NBA has only grown less and less ever since. I have no idea why I hope the NFL hires full-time officials, because it clearly doesn't do the NBA any favors.

I have watched all of the various playoff games (or at least, most) and the refs are blatantly biased for home court games. I don't know how or who chooses various refs, but they all need "refresher" courses, because they are consistently pathetic. If this is the "best" of the refs, then then NBA needs to step in and replace, train, and educate a total new continency of refs.
