It’s summer, time to start up Andre Iguodala trade rumors

May 31, 2012, 4:25 PM EDT

Andre Iguodala AP

Like ants at your picnic, oppressive humidity in New York or outrageous gas spikes in California, there are just certain annoyances we have to deal with every summer.

In Philadelphia, that is Andre Iguodala trade rumors.

And they are on again, reports Chris Broussard at ESPN.

The 76ers are looking to move Iguodala. They believe youngsters Jrue Holiday and Turner won’t grow to reach their potential as long as Iguodala is there.

He suggests a previously rumored Iguodala for Rudy Gay trade between Philly and Memphis should move forward. I have heard rumblings that the Lakers would explore Iggy as part of their shopping Pau Gasol around. Frankly, every team but the Bobcats will probably come up in the rumors.

And most likely, just as it always has been, no deal will be made and Iguodala will be a Sixer next fall. But know the rumors are coming like ants to your picnic.

    Pistons? Just don’t trade stuckey

    • senorpapino - Jun 1, 2012 at 12:06 AM

As a Pistons fan, the only untouchable pieces on the roster are Monroe and Brandon Knight. What they need to do is either 1) get rid of the logjam at guard, 2) get out from the terrible contracts they gave a few years ago (Ben Gordon and Villanueva), and/or 3) get a big to pair with Monroe. Doubtful that an Iggy trade (even with other pieces) accomplishes any of this.

Iggy should come here 2 sac as long as its not 4 d-cuzz!

Get’em out of here. I’ll take Rudy

  4. flyerscup2010 - May 31, 2012 at 5:55 PM

considering he was like the only dude who showed up in the celtics series, i’m not sure they CAN trade him right now and justify it to the fans even if they want to, which i’m not convinced they do anyway.

    • sasquash20 - Jun 1, 2012 at 1:59 AM

Are you kidding me. This team is nowhere near a contender. No one on this team is untouchable especially Iggy. His value will never be higher. Trade him now please he stunts the growth of Holiday and Turner. And to say he is the only dude to show up shows you didn’t watch the series. Holiday was pretty good the whole playoffs, Turner had his spots, as did Young, Williams, and L.Allen. You have no clue moron.

      • onebadace - Jun 1, 2012 at 3:22 AM

Wow, going to resort to name calling? He’s not a moron, as the thumbs up speaks for itself. People agree with him. Grow up.

      • flyerscup2010 - Jun 3, 2012 at 6:11 AM

jeez check out the internet muscles on this one. holiday was pretty good at always having the ball and never getting it through the little orange circle with the net hanging from it.

especially if lou will opts out and signs elsewhere. losing lou and iggy in one offseason is too much veteran turnover.

    • sasquash20 - Jun 1, 2012 at 2:02 AM

Yeah why would you want to lose two overrated veterans off a team that has no shot at a title? Please with this nonsense. Williams would be a fool not to opt out, and it would be a big blow to our bench. But you can’t over pay for a guy who can’t play defense and comes off your bench when you have no real superstar. Iggy has to go. Good player, but very replaceable.

      • dennisund - Jun 1, 2012 at 9:53 AM

Couldn’t agree more. Iguodala is a great team guy, he will fill in nicely for a complete team now, but by the time Holiday, Turner, etc get up to speed, Iguodala will be slowing down. Bad timing, get what you can for him.

T wolves for Derrick Williams. Easy

    • reese215 - May 31, 2012 at 6:44 PM

d williams and a first round pick for iggy would do it.

      • sasquash20 - Jun 1, 2012 at 2:06 AM

Money doesn’t match. Wolves would have to give up more in terms of contracts.

  7. joshvanklomp - May 31, 2012 at 6:09 PM

Timberwolves would be an ideal fit for Iguodala, and Iguodala would be an ideal fit for the Timberwolves.

  8. lakerluver - May 31, 2012 at 7:23 PM

If I were running my beloved LAKERS I would NOT trade Pau for Iggy straight up. I like his game but I’ve always felt Iggy was a little overvalued.

    • drunkenjunk - May 31, 2012 at 9:20 PM

I agree that he is a little over valued but you’d save around 5 mill a year and iggy isn’t on the wrong of 30. I think the Lakers would have to take something like this if offered.

    • kerby720 - Jun 1, 2012 at 12:05 AM

With that being said, if the offer was Iggy and L. Williams (S&T) for Pau, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

      • sasquash20 - Jun 1, 2012 at 2:10 AM

Williams will opt out of his deal. So some kind of sign and trade. But of course then the Lakers would have to add something to match the salaries of Williams and Iggy who together after Williams signs new deal would be a lot more the Pau. I want Iggy out and Pau would fill a need but I don’t see Collins wanting Pau, he doesn’t seem like a tough stick it to you defender.

    • sasquash20 - Jun 1, 2012 at 2:04 AM

Contracts don’t match so the Sixers would have to throw something else in that deal. Iggy is the defensive player you need badly on LA.

  9. mcjon22 - Jun 1, 2012 at 12:22 AM

As a Bulls fan, we will give you Boozer for him. All day, every day, 24-7, 365, weekends, holidays, presidents day, MLK day, Columbas day, St Patricks day, election day. We would trade him on a boat, we would trade him for a goat, we would trade him on a plane, we would trade him in the rain. We would trade him in a house, we would trade him for a mouse. We would trade him in a box, we would trade him to a fox. We would trade him everyday, every Bulls fan hopes and prays.

A center would be nice D12? Lol the team would be nice than only can dream though

  11. fanz928 - Jun 1, 2012 at 3:24 AM

Defense beast iggy he should go to ceveland

  12. flyerscup2010 - Jun 3, 2012 at 6:14 AM

I feel like everyone in Philadelphia hates Iggy because he’s not Iverson and everyone outside of Philadelphia sees the actual value in him for what he is and would love to have him on their teams. Poor guy is officially the new McNabb.
