Bringing back lamar is a great idea. Mike browns offense doesnt facilitate having two 7footers in the post, bynum got that gig! Having lamar at starting power foward gives you 6″10 guy who can drive and shoot from the elbow, something pau had trouble with all year. Trading Pau for some younger athletic wingman/guards and bring back lamar could be just what the lakers need!

I could be wrong but last time I checked L O was still 6′ 10″ tall and can play any position on the court. And, I believe he’s only 32. So, for anyone saying he’s done, or wont get signed, your insane. Just look at all the stiffs in the NBA!! Guys like Darko, Joelle Anthony, Kwame Brown!! Trust me, Lamar didn’t lose his skills overnight. He simply didn’t want to leave L. A. Could he have dealt with it a lot better? Of course. I hope he does play for the LAKERS again next season. If he does you doubters will see the Lamar that won two rings for the PURPLE AND GOLD.

If they pick up the option, it is over $8M. There is a $2.4M buyout. Odom will be bought out, but probably not by the Mavs. I expect him to get traded on draft night to a team looking to cut salary.

There are lots of reasons why they don’t want to pick up the option:

1. Odom was a cancer in the locker room.
2. He didn’t want to be there.
3. He was a bust.
4. They could use that money towards another more impact player.

I wouldn’t $2,400 to keep this guy around. He can go to the Lakers. It’s not going to matter.

Odom is irrelevant at this point. He’s always been enigmatic, is getting long in the tooth, and now coming off a year where he did basically nothing. He is not going to put the Lakers over the top, especially since they’re going to want to use that money to sign a good point guard.

I’m trying to figure out what reason in the world the Mavs would have for not picking up the $2.4 million option on Odom. Why would they not do it, then watch him go to the Lackers? I don’t think Cuban is beyond paying a guy $2.4 million and letting him rot on the bench. Odom would be a pretty talented 12th man. I am sure he can wave a towel with the best of them.

This could be the biggest steal of next year. To get a motivated Lamar back for about the same money they pay Josh McRoberts, that would be awesome. A lot of the trade rumors involving gasol don’t get the lakers another power forward in return, so if any of them come true, I’d rather have Lamar starting, rather than mcroberts or hill.
