Jerry West says Warriors need veteran role players

I feel like every story we right this summer about the Warriors will contain the sentence “If Stephen Curry and Andrew Bogut can remain healthy…”

That would make them a lot better (especially defensively with Bogut), but it’s just the first step. The next one is to bring in some veteran role players so they get more production around their stars.

At least that’s what Jerry West told KNBR (as transcribed by the San Francisco Chronicle).

But we need a couple of veteran players on our team … And I’m not talking about guys that are 35, 36 years old. I’m talking about people that have some life left in them, that can really contribute, and give our coach some players that can do the intangible things a heck of a lot better than some of the players we have. We have the youngest team in the league, I believe – we’re gonna get a little bit younger in the draft this year, but having said that we can’t rely on having the youngest team in the league every year. We have to start producing.

You can see the Warriors being a very improved team next season, a playoff team. There are just a whole lot of “ifs” that have to fall into place for them. Including adding some stable veterans off the bench.

I have to ask Kurt, do you get annoyed by people constantly slamming your grammar and spelling? In terms of the article, the Warriors could improve, but playoff team? Not sure which of the eight this year are going to drop off enough to let the Warriors sneak by.

I wasn’t slamming Kurt so much as seizing an easy opportunity for a cheap joke.

How about 34 year olds? The Mavs would love to send you Marion.

ah Jerry West might be on to something here… why don’t other teams try to find players like this… oh wait they do

Need Veteran role players??? GSW need some balls is what they need. Sorry excuse for a team. Such a good fan base and extremely loyal and they treat them like sh*t. GSW should be stripped of picks for 5 yrs with the tank job they pulled off this season. And then to make it worse they’re scared of losing the pick. If I didn’t feel for the fans of GSW I’d rather see them fold.

You obviously did not get your way this draft.

    – Sacrament tanked their season with a healthy team

    – think about it the Warriors won 3 games out the last 20 and only tied for the 8th spot!!!!

    – The warriors were playing hard every game they lost

    – other the worst team in the league all above the Warriors Tanked their games at the end of the season

It’s in insult and ignorance to say the Warriors tanked the season.
