rubio is about what everyone expected him to be on the offensive end and so a lot of people thought that he would not be a sure thing in the NBA. his defense really is what makes ricky a great nba prospect. the same vision that he has on offense is just as apparent if you watch him on defense. his anticipation, length and intelligence really make him as valuable on the defensive end as the offensive. the twolves really sucked on defense after he went down.

Agree with all the things you said. Also, another thing that makes him a great defender is his understanding of the game. He plays great team defense and is so great clogging up passing lanes. Whenever people judge a “great defender” they just look at speed, athletic ability, and 1 on 1 defense but there is more to it than just that.

Agreed. I knew he was serious about defense when I saw him block a potentially game winning lay up by Chauncey Billups. He stays in front of his guy, puts pressure on their dribble with all his pick pocket steals and challenges every shot. I’m excited about the Timberwolves with Rubio.

Ricky is more then just a better defender then people think (pretty non-specific description). Ricky is a very good defender. He is quick, has excellent anticipation, uses his length well, and knows how to position himself. These are all key elements to defense and once the kid fills out a bit more and puts on his man strength, he will be an excellent defender. Here is to wishing his knee a speedy recovery so NBA fans can go back to watching Rubio play.
