Rondo is not lacking confidence about beating the Heat

Rajon Rondo was asked Saturday night about how the Celtics feel about their chances. From Fox Sports Florida’s Chris Tommasson:

Rajon Rondo believes Celtics can beat Heat: “We feel we can beat Miami. Obviously, we got to this point. There’s no doubt in our mind we can. We got to go down there and take care of business.”

Now, there’s nothing shocking here. What’s he going to say? “Oh, no, we’re doomed. We can’t beat them. Have you seen them? Have you seen us? We had to win a Game 7 behind me hitting jump shots. No chance.” No, of course he’s going to say they have to “take care of business.”

But here’s what’s interesting. How things look inside that locker room is so dramatically different from how things look on the outside, and that actually matters a ton with the Celtics. In 2009, they knew that without KG, they were not going to last. And you could tell it impacted them. There was always that little bit of hesitation, of concern. In 2010, though, despite facing a Miami team that was arguably better, a Cavaliers team that was certainly better, and a Magic team that was certainly better, Boston’s confidence in its ability to beat anyone they step on the floor with was what helped them out-execute superior teams.

Winning the mental game isn’t just about what you do to your opponent, the doubt you instill. It’s about what you do to put yourself in a position you don’t think you can lose.

And the Celtics are masters of it.

LAKERS jokes? How rich. You clowns only wish your franchise was the proud owners of 16 LARRY O’BRIEN’S. In case you’re a C’s fan, yeah, they have 17 titles but everyone knows the pre imminent franchise in the entire NBA resides in the city of angels. And I ain’t talking about the Clips. More than half of the C’s titles were won when the NBA consisted of 12 teams, each team had 3 black players, and everyone wore nut huggers and canvas Chucks.

you’re an idiot, that’s like saying the yankees early titles don’t count because there were only 8 teams in the AL, 16 in the MLB with no interleague play

Rondo also plays better when he is quiet. Boastfulness indicates his doubt, and as good as he is, he has a lot of self-doubt.

    LakerLover:

Everyone knows? Come on man. Boston is title town. half the titles lakers have was 70-80’s man. You still got magic’s nuthuggers hanging over your bed man. The run is over in LA. C’s have one more run in their twilight… can never count out heart and pride. Don’t sleep on the Spurs either… no one on the team can dunk but they have been rackin up titles the last 15 yrs. Ain no joke.

To bad Garnett, Allen and Pierce didn’t get together a few year earlier in their prime they would have won at least a couple more championships. They play basketball the right way none of that showboating BS that the Heat love so much.

Thank you jtchernak! Pietrus is a great defender! We’ll have PP on LBJ obviously and BB on Haslem. KG will harass whoever starts the 5. We can let Wade go off from time to time as long as we can control everyone else and get our offense going. This will be an interesting series.

@”Boston’s confidence in its ability to beat anyone they step on the floor with was what helped them out-execute superior teams”
Hmmm….if Boston can ‘out-execute’ another team, doesn’t that make BOSTON the ‘superior team’….hmmmm
Just because the HEAT has a bunch of snarly bullies battering other teams around don’t make them in any way superior…just MEAN and DIRTY…
Just remember there is no R in HEAT…
    So no heart
NOT SO BOSTON…..they play with EVERYTHING they got….and so HEAT don’t count yer chikens jes yet….cretons

Heat in 6, may be even 5. They are peaking and even though Celtics may think they own this team, this is a very different team than during season. Heat bench is coming on strong, and their Big Three is focused. Bench is Xfactor this series. Bosh against Spurs, and Spurs better not count Thunder out yet.
