It doesn’t matter if Red Aurbach, Phil Jackson, and Jerry Sloan team up to coach the Bobcats – they’re not getting to the playoffs or competing for at least another 3 – 4 years. He’s pretty old already and he’s not a players’ coach (which is what you would prefer for a young, rebuilding team). By the time the Bobcats get good (in the absolute best of scenarios, say 4 years..kind of like the Thunder after Durant was drafted), Sloan would probably be retiring again.
So I don’t see how the Bobcats & Sloan would be a good fit.

He would be a much better fit for the Magic, except the Magic just fired Van Gundy, who is also a hard-ass, old school coach who cares more about team execution than individual performance. If the Magic don’t want Van Gundy (especially if Howard’s leaving anyways), why would they grab Sloan?

This isn’t to say I don’t like Sloan – he’s a superb coach, a legend. He should be coaching the Clippers or Lakers or Knicks. All teams that have some talent but need better team coordination and execution.
