The “if everyone had a gun” argument is idiotic. Most shootings occur because people who can’t control their anger (or don’t care) have access to weapons. There is a legitimate debate about how to keep guns out of these hands without infringing on the people who have guns, are responsible and know how to use/take care of them. But to suggest that the founding fathers pictured a country where everyone could carry around whatever is ignorant of history.

I agree with the Point about idiots with guns in public places.

However, no I do not remember those good old days. As a surgery intern >20 years ago, I would set my alarm for 2 AM every time I was on call because every night almost some drunk idiots would make get into a knife or gun fight and I would have to take care of them (bars in my city closed at 2, and the fights typically happened then).

First off let me preface this by saying I am a Laker fan. I also hate it when Kobe tries to play hero ball and forgets his teammates. That and the fact that his salary alone takes up close to half of the salary cap, thereby rendering the Lakers unable to get a decent bench.

With that being said, the Thunder are no “team” either. I do like watching them. They have youth, talent, and exciting play. They are however, no a team in the traditional sense of the word. They’re success comes from individual talent and effort from 3 guys. If they were more of a team like you claim, they wouldn’t be ranked last in assists per game.

We’ll see what happens in the next round. Though I feel like the Spurs are going to win it this year. They have a better bench, are more cohesive as a unit, are the highest scoring team still left in the playoffs, and have a better defense.

This really is the very definition of “senselessness”. I really don’t get it. What goes through a person’s head right before they pull the trigger to shoot someone? Do they really have that little regard for someone else’s life? I like to shoot guns as much as the next guy… at a range, at paper targets, 15-20 yards away… not at another human being.
