Video: Stephen A. Smith impersonation from Saturday Night Live

May 21, 2012, 9:11 PM EDT

In case you haven’t seen it, Jay Pharoah did his impersonation of Stephen A. Smith, talking about LeBron James, during the Weekend Update “news” part of Saturday Night Live .

I like it. Just a little exaggerated, but not much.

    Actually it was spot on.

Jay did a good job, but Seth was the one that really cracked me up.

Seth Meyers is a funny guy and he did a good job in this sketch but Pharoah stole the show I’m literally in tears right now

Kevin Neghandi made Stephen A. watch it this morning on SportsCenter. I was shocked that Stephen A. briefly laughed at the impersonation and didn’t start overanalyzing it – That dude takes himself WAY too seriously.

Though, he did manage to criticize the impersonator’s clothing (“I would never wear that shirt with that tie”) in the skit, once again proving that a zebra can’t change its stripes.

Stephen A. is very happy to see this.

I was annoyed about 10 seconds into that impersonation. Therefore, it was spot on.

Ever notice how Stephan A. And Skip always take opposite sides of any issue.

Both are consummate actors willing to say whatever will drive ratings and are known to be entirely different ‘on-camera’ than off.

Two phoney douchbags who have no journalistic credibility and will throw anyone under the buss to help their ‘careers’.

ESPN may get ratings but incredibly lacking in ethics and journalistic integrity.

How anyone pays Stephen A. Smith to do what he does is beyond me. I don’t care how many “sources” he has.

      welcome to the real world,

everyone is always trying to sell you something,

      marketing, business, its all there,

these major leagues are all businesses,

they need the 1st takes of the world to build hype and drama,

skip bayless took the tebow thing to another level last year, without him and 1st take, there is not nearly the hype,

skip@denver the week they played new england, that was out of control

    not funny at all.

  8. acdc363 - May 22, 2012 at 12:08 AM

    That was extremely disappointing.

This is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard.

If this guy took the same script and did it as a middle aged suburban white dude during the fourth quarter of a Heat game, it would sound eerily familiar to all those who watch games with me.

As Dan Dierdorf would say, “Kudos to Jay Pharoah”.
