And if they werent paying Gilbert they would still be paying Lewis. Why do all Magic fans somehow forget Rashard Lewis and his albatross of a contract. Why do they also forget that Howard asked for Arenas? And why did no one have a problem with Otis Smith in 09 and 10 when the Magic went to the Finals and Eastern Conference Finals in consecutive years? Smith helped turn the Magic from an also ran into a contender. I hate that he is being scapegoated for the Magic’s failures. Its not Smith’s fault that Nelson regressed tremendously after being injured.

it’s not going to happen but if the sixers could land Howard and at the same time keep Turner, Holiday, Iggy and Young that’d be a squad. Sixers D is already one of the best in the league and adding Howard would make them crush. Again, it’s not going to happen but I hope those new owners at least try

From a purely fantasy/punitive standpoint I would love it if they just sat Howard for all of next season. Just put him at the end of the bench and let him watch. If I was a crazy owner who could afford it I’d eat that final yr of his contract kinda like how cuban shut down Odom. I’d tell him “If you’re gonna continue to try to screw our team then I’m gonna screw you out of one year of your career. No games/scrimmages/practice with NBA players, no trainers at the teams expense etc.” if he didn’t show up then fine him so you’re not paying him his full contract. of course i know this is ridiculous and would only end up hurting the team and the fans but it would be nice to see a stand like that being made.

Phil Jackson as GM and shaw as coach would work. Phil Would be able to sit in his comfy office king chair and not have to be court side. Who wouldn’t want to play for Phil, shaw, D12, tax free state, warm winters, which means women half naked in the winter time, minutes away from any beach in FL. Why do you think most former magic players and coaches still live in Orlando area?

No one can stick up for the way Dwight has handled his business. It is indefensible.

However, put yourself in his shoes for a minute. The Magic roster is littered with horrible contracts for overpaid and/or over-the-hill role players: Turkoglu, Nelson, Redick, Big Baby, Duhon, Jason and Q-Rich.

Otis Smith ruined the franchise’s cap flexibility. Even if his words said he wanted to keep and build around his franchise player, his job performance is what drove D12 out of town.

It’s possible getting rid of SVG was just a way to make the job more appealing to prospective GMs so they can bring in ”their guy” and completely put the Howard drama behind them.

Big picture: This could make for a very interesting offseason. D-12 would be a major cog to any team he goes too (but what do you give up?). a team could shake up the roster big time and become an instant contender if they added him…

as for D-12, personally, man…just stop it. look around dude, Orlando must love you to put up with the drama. just take your throne in Orlando and stay there. the magic have shown (and proven) they are trying to build a winner out there.

How bout a 3 way trade? Howard to Brooklyn, Deron Williams to the Knicks and Stoudamire to the Magic. Kknicks get the PG they need, the Nets get the new face of the franchise (with a ton of cap room to build around him) and the Magic get a superstar back.
