A rookie of the year should be noticed immediately every time they are on the court and I have not seen anybody that is immediately noticed like the Manimal was. The kid flat out makes a ton of plays that do not count on the stat sheet based upon good old fashioned elbow grease.

1) Irving is a PG and his turnovers were way too high – this did not improve as the year went on, plus his own back-up did a far superior job taking care of the ball, so yes a good Ast/Tov rate could be accomplished on the Cavs.
2) Irving’s own coach had plenty to say about his poor defense, something you never heard Karl complaining about with Faried.
3) Irving scored 7.6 more PPG than Faried as a starter, but it took 7.7 more shots/game. Faried shot an absurdly high 59% and never forced up shots.
4) Faried’s Rebounding rate was outstanding to a degree that almost no rookies ever are able to compare in any category. Not only that, he lead the entire NBA in Offensive Rebounding %.
