please just opt out…as a knicks fan i can’t stand watching this guy take the worst possible shots and acting selfishly in this offense he kills the ball movement and even when his shooting is off he keeps jacking shots up and he doesn’t pass…the fouls he commits on defense just make you want to tear your hair out he’ll hand check someone on the way up which doesn’t influence the shot at all and just give the other team easy and 1s and he gets beat off the ball too much…he does have his good games too but for me it just doesn’t outweigh the rest of it and i think his style of play just hurts the rest of the team since he takes away shots from the other players on the court…that money can be spent elsewhere

PS He commits a ton of stupid fouls. He isn’t very disciplined.

He has to choose to opt-in or test free agency before he can receive any offers. Most guys opt out, even for less money, just to have the security of a longer contract.

J.R. Smith may be a little nutty but he averages 18.6pts per 36 minutes and has no qualms coming off the bench. A lot of teams could use a quality scorer to carry their bench.
