Kobe Bryant to play in Game 6… as if you expected otherwise

May 10, 2012, 9:57 PM EDT

Yes, Kobe Bryant was sick with a stomach virus all day that had him vomiting and staying in his hotel room, and running to the bathroom probably more than he wants to admit.

But of course he is playing in Game 6. What did you expect?

Here is the pregame quote from Mike Brown, via

“Obviously we’ll watch it the best we can, but (Lakers trainer) Gary Vitti said there isn’t a minutes restriction or anything like that,” Lakers coach Mike Brown said before the game.

Kobe could keep down fluids and was going to get an IV before the game.

We’ll see how Kobe can play, but if he is slowed and it forces the Lakers to pound the ball inside to Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol more, that’s just good for the Lakers. That’s how they beat Denver. For the Nuggets, they still just want to run and wear Kobe and the Lakers down.

This is so unsurprising I’m surprised it made a news report here.
To quote Kobe: “If I can walk, I’m playing”.

Kobe always makes sure the media knows far more about his injuries/illnesses before games (that he’s obviously going to play in) than other stars because it creates a better hero narrative, plus a great excuse when he continues to shoot poorly.

On the LA radio pre-game show they said Kobe was vomiting on the bus ride to the game. That can’t be pleasant.

No, sticking your fingers down your throat ( hopefully not other objects) is very un-pleasant.

Kobe has been sick ever since he lost all his homes and half of his money to his ex wife Vanessa! It’s very difficult to shake that illness!!!

man I don’t know what you’re talking about. I saw Kobe driving a sick brand new Lambo on PCH the other day I think he’s doing fine

No man does fine, when the plumber is going over, servicing his baby-momma.

Material things bring no pleasure to those dudes. He is not getting any me !

My favorite hobby was to volunteer to help with plumbing issues…..ahahahaha

doesn’t matter. Lakers won’t make it to the ship either way.
