Video: Charles Barkley wins Emmy, gets champagne shower

May 2, 2012, 10:25 AM EDT

Charles Barkley won an Emmy. That may be the seventh sign of apocalypse itself, but it happened. Best studio analyst/personality. Congrats to him.

He was on the TNT set when the awards were handed out, and Kenny Smith decided to have some fun celebrating with Barkley. And it’s pretty funny.

By the way, amazing how much better that show is without Shaq.

Shaq brings that show down as dead weight and offers no insight. It is his first year doing it so he gets a pass but he needs to work at it.

Tip one: maybe make some notes prior to going on air about what you want to say.

Shaq is a try hard, forces bad jokes and offers no great insight. TNT should just move him to NBA TV, and have him do interviews maybe.

Kudos to Chuck for how he handled that. I feel like four years ago that would have ended with a punch and some FCC fines for cussing.

Keys to winning Emmy for best personality/analyst :

    1- Talk over other analysts
    2- Talk over host
3- Make outlandish statements you are not accountable for
4- Talk about other teams in absolutes

I kid… Chuck is fun to listen to and I guess if anyone should win an award for this, it should be him.

This will sound very fanboy but seeing sir Charles doing weight watchers was the reason I got on the program and I’ve lost 32 pounds so far.congrats to Sir Charles.

    “that’s turrible”

Ironic that their won an emmy for the Shaq promo… it’s been the highlight of his career as a TV analyst.

I think everyone agrees Shaq weighs the show down, he DEFINITELY should go to NBATV, Lord knows they need star power.

Funny thing and how ironic…all these Shaq haters were saying the same thing about Chuck years ago when he got started and now he’s an Emmy Award winner. Shaq adds another dynamic people aren’t used to yet so they bash the new guy. let’s be honest, not too many of us watch this show because of the “detailed NBA game analysis” they spew. It’s just great reality tv entertainment. Give the guy a couple years to get his feet wet. They’re big so it may take a little bit. He’ll get there though. You haters get your panties out of a bunch.

I guess the Mayans are right. It’s is happening for sure now.
