The Suns already have a center — Marcin Gortat will get the bulk of the minutes at the five next year.

But that doesn’t mean they are letting Robin Lopez walk.

Suns president Lon Babby was talking with the media on Wednesday and when the topic of restricted free agent Lopez came up, this was said, according to a tweet from Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic.

Babby said it is “quite likely if not certain” that the Suns will match any offer on restricted free agent Robin Lopez.

That doesn’t mean Lopez is unavailable, it means you are going to have to overpay or trade to get him. The latter of those could happen.

But Babby is trying to scare off free agent suitors.

Did I miss something? Is Robin Lopez in some sort of demand?

Might be reverse psychology. Trying to get his name out there to generate a buzz.

Every team says this about every RFA they have. Trust me, if somebody wants sideshow bob for 10 mil a yea they’ll let him walk no doubt.

I know everyone will be fighting to get Suns tickets too see Side Show Bob Blowpez. Just another thing to show how Sarver and Babby are absolutely destroying what once was a classy competitive team and organization.

Not a bad move. Gortat is your starter hands down, his upward rise since he left Dwight Cowards shadow surprised even me. But to have a useful 7”0 backup big that you know is never going to command starters minutes or even 24 min. a game is key. Injuries happen ALLLLLLLLL the time and though he’s not fantastic, he IS decent in that backup, 15 or so min. a game role.

With that said, if anyone chases him down for over 5-6 million (a year) Mr. Babby should buy him a farewell card from Hallmark help him pack his bags.
