Video: Derrick Rose suffers torn ACL, out for the season

Apr 28, 2012, 4:04 PM EDT

Update: Via Bulls PR: “Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose tore his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and he is out for the remainder of the season.” If you want more details, Aggrey Sam has them at CSNChicago.com.

This is terrible for everyone who loves basketball. The Bulls still  might win this season but it changes the entire playoff picture in the East.

———————————–

Bulls guard Derrick Rose suffered an apparent knee injury against the Philadelphia 76ers in the fourth quarter of their NBA Playoffs Game 1 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday. Rose leaped in the air and came down. There was no contact on the play.

Not good.

Rose was helped off the floor by Bulls trainers and headed immediately for the locker room. TNT reported that Rose has been taken to a local hospital for an MRI. Rose scored 23 points and had 9 rebounds with 9 assists when he was injured. He started the game 1-7 from the field before warming up and hitting 8-16.We’ll update you with more when we have it.

you guys act like this is a death sentence. ….adrian peterson is already running and cutting…Roses career is already better than penny hardaway’s… we’ll be fine

I know Bulls fans are worried about the 2012 play-offs with the Rose injury but their real concern should be Derrick’s future in the NBA. This ACL tear is tough to come back from and Rose’s style of play puts tremendous stress on his whole body. I hope he can make it back for next year and he can adopt his style of play so that he’s not always pushing his body at 125%.

However all the BS aimed at Thibs is dead wrong. Rose needed the time to get his game timing back and this could have happened at anytime give his playing style. If you watched the game he still was not in his normal flow during the 1st quarter.

I’m sick to my stomach. Why does this happen to good people?!? Get well D.R.

This just sucks. I am a Wolves fan and was devastated when Rubio went down. He isn’t even close to the same level as D-Rose. I blame this stupid lockout shortened season. It is not fair to the players who all have been getting injured and not fair to the fans. We want to see the premiere players play for a title. I just hate this.

Man, this sucks. Though I’m a LAKERS fan, D. Rose is my favorite player not wearing the Purple & Gold. My condolences to Rose and all the Bulls fans.

Pretty sure I read a rant about Adidas shoes being the most dangerous in the NBA as far as causing injures a few weeks ago. Both Rose and Shumpert tonight in Adidas. Perhaps there is something to it.

The thing that stood out to me in this article:
“With the Bulls up 12 and 1:09 left in the game, Derrick Rose was driving to the basket ….”
As excellent a head coach Thibs has shown thus far; he has never known how to manage his largest commodity – players. He has time & time again played players who are coming back from injury excessive minutes opposed to monitoring their minutes & reacclimate them back to normal minutes. Look throughout this season for further proof.

Under no circumstance should Rose who has struggled with injury the entire season should be playing much less driving to the basket “With the Bulls up 12 and 1:09 left in the game …”

I’m sorry its inexcusable & unacceptable and its time Bull’s management/ownership stepped up and put a stop to this foolish practice.

    Just my .02 (CDN)

@ dirtybird2020 you’re a moron! I know your fat a%% doesn’t get off your couch very much so be careful of how and where you walk because you’ll tear your ACL before Wade does you under achieving slouch!
