I think you missed the part where Dantoni is no longer the coach of the Knicks, and they werent a top 10 defensive team until after he left and Woodson took over. And yes, they were better at DEF even before Dantoni left, but that is because Woodson was brought in as a def specialist. Dantoni has admitted to 75% of practice time to offense

your missing the point, im saying getting injured is a characteristic of the Spurs, so you cant “pin” it on the injuries. It is who they are. Its like Mike Dantoni saying “Man, if my teams just played defense…”

The Spurs age gives them a lot of benefits, like being savvy and experienced, but you cant take the good without the bad. When you are that old you cant pull the injury excuse, its part of your identity, not a fluke

It probably has something to do with the fact that Memphis beat San Antonio into the ground without Rudy Gay and without complaining about his absence.

And that part (being old/experienced) made them the top team in the entire Western Conference last year. Then two of their top three got old and they lost to the 8th seed. Sure vets get injured, but it’s hard not to pin this loss directly on the really bad timing of both of them getting hurt at the same time.

they are old. they are both on the verge of being very injured today also. when your core is 3 vets, you cant pull the “we were hurt” excuse. of course you were, you are old. its like if a team with all rookies said “why are people ignoring we were inexperienced”. It is part of who you are
