Coming from two very talented under-achievers. They both need someone who will kick them in the pants and force them to adjust their games for team chemistry. Sounds to me as though they prefer Woodson because he stroked their egos, and observe as well that the new coach-player honey-moon did not have a chance to wear off before the season ended. He should be less their friend, and perhaps get in their grill to man up against Miami next post season.

Couldn’t we trade Amare to a team that hasn’t used their “get out of a bad contract card” then use it on Amare??

Woodson has been pretty good, would love to see Jeff Van Gundy back if we have to part ways though.

Damphony had to know that bringing in Woody would be his death kneel. But then again his ego probably got in the way. The Knicks haven’t looked this believable since Van Gundy and thats because of Woody. If they do shop around or try to get Phil, Woody should bolt to Portland or the Clippers because that job will eventually open up..

Amare has this playoff series and the first part of next year (if healthy) to prove that it can work consistently. SOME team WILL take him, regardless of the uninsured contract, if the Knicks actually do try to move him by next year’s trade deadline. Everyone is just a slip or hard fall from a major injury, he’s no more prone than half the league. The contract not being insured isn’t prohibitive enough. If he were 35 instead of 30 (when next season begins), then it would be different, but he’s still in his athletic prime.

you know some things should go without having to be said it would be crazy to even think about bringing in someone else at this stage. when Woody has proven hes the man for the job already. its funny how a team generally reflect their coaches attitude on floor,when ricky-D’ was running the show the knicks played like little girls at a tea party. as soon as Woody took over we became men again.

No reason in the world to be talking about anyone else. Calipari is a hack and has proven it everywhere he’s been. He’s just Sonny Vaccaro on the sidelines, basically.

Phil may not even want to coach again, and even if he does, you can’t dismiss what Woody has done with this team. A healthy team, fresh draft pick, a nice signing in free agency and a full training camp, leading to a full 82-game season spells a 60 win Knick team. Even the philosophy that Woody employs in holding the guys accountable and building cohesion is grounds for keeping him, as there is nothing more that Phil could do psychologically to get them over the hump.

Woodson has done a great job as the coach and should be back next year. With training camp and everyone healthy will be a top 3 team in east. They have all the pieces just need to keep playing D and they will be fine.

He deserves to be coach. He has done a masterful job and I’d rather see money spent on talent.
