watch the replay. i have watched it tons of times. harden is behind him all the way…artest slams it and turns around…harden walks towards artest impeding his progress (which i’ll say again, the thunder have been known to do this tactic of defusing the opponent’s celebration). i’m not saying harden deserved this but he was playing with fire.

Watch the video again, Harden took two steps sideways then put his arms up to block MWP. If Ron-Ron’s elbow had caught him in the back and not the face there wouldn’t be this up roar. MWP shouldn’t have thrown the elbow to begin with but no one knows if he was aiming for his head or not.

Would you feel the same way about the play had MWP caught him in the back instead of the head? If James Jones hockey style check of Noah caught him in the face breaking his nose would you think Jones should be suspended for 10 games? Is the suspension simply due to the outcome of the hit or an issue that happened a long time ago? And the idea that Harden did nothing to instigate the situation makes me think you didn’t watch the same video clip. Harden takes two steps sideways to get in front of MWP and puts his arms up to block him. Does that make what Ron-Ron did acceptable? No, not at all. No more acceptable then what Wade and Jones did. So let’s not go overboard with out idea’s of fair punishment here.

So artest is acting when hes running down court not realizing that he just gave someone a concussion? He definitley knew he was there but what im saying is i dont think he meant to elbow him in the head. What reason or intent did he have to do that to harding? Usually when u hit someone you look to see what you did. Artest doesnt even look to see, dude just keeps running

Players get physically close to other players all the time without any retaliation. Harden’s proximity to MWP in no way justifies any kind of retaliation, much less an elbow to the head.

I’m with “htrhurter” on this one. Unintentional? Guess again. It’s NOT NORMAL to “celebrate” by throwing your elbows violently ABOVE shoulder-level… and specifically in the direction of someone who just made (slight) contact with you first.

Face it, Artest is, and always has been, a thug. Too bad they won’t ban him from the game permanently. The sport is too awesome to watch to have crap like that involved in it. How ironic this idiot now has “Peace” as part of his trumped-up / publicity-seeking name.
