I’m from Texas, born and raised and a major Mavericks fan. I don’t believe Lamar gave 100%. You can’t fault the Mavericks for saying something about his playing skills. They make a lot of money and should always give 110%. Do I think Lamar has it in him, absolutely but for some reason he just didn’t really want to be in Texas (be it family or personal). Lamar, find the love of basketball again. Not what team you are playing on or how much money you are making..but the love of basketball. Then you will find your game back.

In regards to harsh statements about Khloe. Look around you at the average size of a people in today’s time. Khloe looks great. (And no I’m not gay or large) I think Lamar didn’t just look at the outside but there was something on the inside of Khloe that made Lamar fall in love with her. (and I’m sure visa versa). I hope their marriage makes it. I know it’s hard in a world so fast to divorce.

I’ve read all these comments about how we can’t know how hard it is for Lamar, or how we all would kill ourselves if we had to go through what he’s gone through. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I know, and I know many of you do as well, a lot of people who have suffered as much if not more than Mr. Odom with much less. I’ve seen people suffer far greater and work 20 times harder to receive a fraction of what that man is receiving to do absolutely nothing. This pathetic defense of a whiny primadonna has to stop. He is a terrible example of what a professional athlete should be in every way. He has no strength, to poise, and most of all no loyalty. None of the qualities a professional should have in ANY job field, let alone one where you are considered a role model, end of story.

Then Odom should have just given the money back to the Mavericks.
Or he should have not led the Mavericks on when he had no intention of fulfilling his obligations. At least the Mavericks could have got someone else who wanted to play.

I’m in Odom’s corner on this one.

Being rich and famous doesn’t insulate one from life’s challenges. True “wealth” has nothing to do with money or a trophy wife.

Odom has experienced hardships early in his life that few posters on this board could have overcome. The recent losses he suffered aren’t easier because he has fame and money now.

Hopefully his sabbatical helps him regain focus and continue a productive career – or perhaps it’s time for a new chapter entirely.

The fact that he doesn’t much care what fickle fans who root for the laundry care is a good sign.
