Now that Diva Dwight has given every GM a reason to offer the crappiest players, the Magic will never be able to even get decent value for him now. His back is cracked and his personality is whack! Kurt, I agree with your first reason why it’s believable, but your second reason why it is believable is questionable, to say the least: Just because Van Gundy “confirmed” that rumor, doesn’t make it true. The only thing Van Gundy confirmed is questionable motivation in responding to the rumor, and the way he went about it would seem to call the whole thing into question, in my mind.

Now I am not one of those to come and troll at you about proper use of the English language. (I reserve my pedantry for those pedants who make mistakes in their criticisms thereof.) In other words, I nearly always like your posts, Kurt, but I cannot let this go:
“…nobody thinks Van Gundy lasts the summer because Orlando is desperate to keep Howard.”
The sports-writer’s conditional clause is one thing, but come on, using the colloquial present tense for a future reference just makes the brain ache!

Next season is going to be absolutely unbearable. Dwight made a huge mistake not forcing the deal to the Lakers and and even bigger mistake by waiving his opt-out clause. Even with a healthy Dwight this year and next year they had no shot at the championship, or even the eastern conference championship.

To make matters worse big men who get up like Howard can’t continue that style of play with a bad back. It’s just as bad as a knee injury.

They could have had Andrew Bynam who’s putting up better numbers than DH with Kobe out…now with a bad back, his Diva routine, & throwing his coach under the bus there’s no way the Lakers make that deal. Dude used to be likeable but his dumb act is wearing thin. Oh and learn to make a free throw.

The problem with guys like Dwight, or guys that leave early is they have no savvy when it comes to dealing with the press. The maturity level compared with the athlete that stays for 3 plus years is almost night and day. The NBA has to do a better job at the rookie symposium in teaching these guys how to deal with the press and how to handle situations of adversity. It’s a joke how athletes handle things through the press thinking that’s how they can get their way, that’s what the press wants, a nice fat juicy story and they keep coming back because dummy athlete will keep coming back giving spurts writer all they want. Dwight could have handled this crap way better, not to mention he has become a cancer on the team he claims he wants to be with.
