Coach Silas, Tyrus Thomas had altercation as Bobcats’ season crumbles

Paul Silas — at age 68 — may be the toughest guy in the Bobcats locker room. He’s almost certainly the toughest minded. Which explains why the team has just 7 wins this season.

Sunday after another Bobcats loss, Silas and Tyrus Thomas got into an altercation, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo.

Silas, 68, had been incensed with Thomas chatting with some Boston Celtics players on the court, and lashed out at him in the losing locker room afterward. Eventually, Thomas snapped back at Silas, and the coach warned him to say no more or risk a suspension.

Once Thomas stood up, Silas pushed him toward his locker stall, sources said.

Other players stepped in to keep them apart. Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins confirmed there was an incident but none of the details. Woj reports all parties were fined, which is to be expected. Tyrus Thomas told the media Wednesday that everything was good now.

Really, the only surprise here is there haven’t been incidents earlier — the Bobcats are losing games at a historic rate and that kind of losing should breed tension. At least it would among players and management that care about winning.

Charlotte needs one more win to avoid finishing the season with the worst winning percentage in NBA history. Right now they are 7-53 and their remaining games are against Chicago, Memphis, Sacramento, Washington, Orlando and New York.

Lose all of them and they finish with a winning percentage of .106. The worst NBA record of all time is the ‘72-73 Philadelphia 76ers, who finished 9-73 — a winning percentage of .110.

Silas — a famed Celtics player — is frustrated. More guys should be really frustrated. And embarrassed. And seeing that bubble over a little is not a bad thing… not that we condone coaches pushing players.

If the Bobcats finish with six losses, owner Michael Jordan will not be associated with the best and worst records in NBA history.

Hate to be that guy but “now be associated with”*. Now on to the basketball…. Charlotte is just waiting or the season to end. You put a bunch of decent-below average players together, and then trade the best of them away this is what you’re going to get. I don’t see why we even have to talk about them until draft time. I mean seriously, for their sake and ours.

You mean *for, you fool…. Pfft, and you have the stones to call out poor Kurt. He can’t help he’s retarded.

Thanks for sending us a first rounder for Tyrus, Bobcats. A poor man’s Josh Smith who loves a good 18 footer even more than Josh Smith does.

      Nice right?
I can’t wait for the Bulls to get that lottery pick for Tyrus.

Meanwhile, in other news, Michael Jordan is asking $8 million in intellectual-property damages from a Chinese sports-apparel company.

If people were capable of viewing Jordan objectively instead of like a god, they’d realize that he’s failing horribly..

I still dont know how many wins Bobcats have from this article Kurt. 6 or 7 it is?

it says pretty clearly that their record is 7-53.

Go Bobcats!!!! Here kitty kitty …. Meow! MJ ought to be ashamed impersonating an owner.

In other news a cold front is hung up over the Carolina’s and improving weather is seen for Friday where it’ll be party sunny and 64.

Good grief there isn’t a bobcat within 1000 miles of here change the name and get some players Michael!

This cat needs to proof read. I can handle one letter but whole sentences that are screwed up is too much

I never liked Thomas as a player when he came out of college and I do not support him now!!!!!

What are the most overhyped prospects in NBA Draft history!!!!! A skinny 6’9″ kid will have a hard time succeeding in the pros unless he can play small forward and shoot jump shots accurately!!!!

I cannot wait until he is out of the league!!!! MJ is doing Paul Silas a disservice!!!!!

Everyone is taking Paul Silas side…but if u watched the bobcats you would know that he is the only big man on the team with a pulse…he plays hard every play..he might not be the most skilled, but hes not the scrub people are making him out to be…Silas is probably more upset at the fact that he will be fired after coaching one of the least talented rosters in recent NBA history…he just took out on Thomas.

The Trade that was essentially tyrus Thomas for lamarcus aldridge was a huge mistake for the bulls.

While it worked out very well for the bulls, seeing tyrus on a losing team doesn’t breed any empathy in Chicago.

How could the arguably the greatest player ever be one of the worse GM/Owners ever?! And what about Tyrus almost getting his arse beat by a senior citizen?! Not only is he a bust, obviously he’s not much of a fighter either.

I’m surprised something like this didn’t happen earlier in the season. Charlotte is the most pathetic and moribund NBA franchise
I have ever seen. The team would have to pay me to come to one of their games.
