Isn’t Isiah at the point in his career where the only job he can get in the NBA is the guy who mops up sweat off the court during timeouts?

i will drop all of my knicks jerseys on the steps of MSG and never watch this team again if they bring this idiot back in any sort of role…he knows more about sexually assaulting people than he does about coaching and/or building a functional successful team

Nobody needs to pile on to Isiah after he just got fired–he was a great player. Having said that, his FIU win loss percentage was about the same–maybe a little lower–than when he was Knicks coach and/or GM. And remember the Knicks have stunk out the joint since 2000, and the common denominator in that time frame is Dolan. Most recently he ran off Donnie Walsh, who certainly wasn’t perfect as he leaked first round draft picks but he did seem to have a coherent idea how to build a team. Then Dolan took over and in short while we have a heck of a center in Chandler, and of course Melo and Amare, Lin made such a big splash because of how desperate the NYC basketball fan had become and the kid made this mish-mash of players work for a couples of weeks–what we got now is 3 max contracts fighting to make the playoffs as 8th seed. Bottom line, Dolan’s meddling has set us up for another distaster, Amare’s health and how long does Melo stay committed to any of this. So if Dolan wants to bring in Isiah as a floating guru to play politics as he claws back to the GM’s office that’s entirely consistent with the owner’s “handling” of this team–a joke. Where we need Phil Jackson is as GM with an ironclad contract–maybe he’ll have pity on us and sign up and that way not have to undergo rigors of travelling with the team.

Are there no other humans who can coach basketball well enough, that Thomas’ name gets into the mix for any actual coaching job ever again? The guy is crap on the bench and in the front office, plain and simple…

I’m from LA and not a Knicks fan but I really do believe after deliberation Dolan will come to the realization, if he hasn’t already, that Isaiah is not cut out to be a coach. Dolan ain’t afraid to spend and if there is one guy he needs to do a full-court press on, however unlikely, it’s Phil Jackson. Everyone on this site knows what PJ can do for New York.

Knicks fans gotta chill. They can’t entertain the possibility of bringing him back after how it ended last time (not just losses but litigation). If the guy is “coaching” teams to an 8-21 record in a mid-major conference in college, in an outpost nobody is really familiar with, it’s safe to say he is done as a head coach altogether.
