The Wolves owe the Clippers their #1 pick this year from the Cassell/Jaric trade. That pick got traded to the Hornets in the Paul trade. So the Wolves lose their pick no matter what. The Jazz owe the Timberwolves their 1st round pick if they are not in the lottery. If they make the lottery the Wolves get like a second round pick next year or something stupid like that.

Pretty sure the Jazz are still in the West.

If the Jazz lose the pick for making the playoffs, does it go back to Minnesota? I was of the impression that they Wolves would not have a first round pick this year, no matter what. Might that change?

Jazz fan here….. I gotta hand it to Kevin O’conner, he’s put a decent team on the court and they have great potential. They’ve lost 18 games by less than 5 points ,There’s a good nucleus with real talent…some we haven’t seen in a while. The team plays hard for their coach and fans and I just dont see them tanking it. You can just tell they hate losing, they dont have that Bobcats or Wizards mentality were they just want the season to be over. Each loss matters to them. BUT without a doubt they need a young point guard in order to get better so even 1 draft pick would be nice but no it’s not worth losing when your so close to at the very least getting playoff experience….and noone wants to being lumped together with the poor teams!

Agreed. San Antonio did it to get Duncan, and they’re still well respected. Why not Utah?

Let’s see:

Lose a few games and earn the rights to not one but TWO lottery picks.

Win a few games, make an early exit from the playoffs. and lose 2 lottery picks that could help build for the future.

If I’m a Jazz fan I’m telling the GM he’s an idiot if he seriously wants to win.
