The Mariners are saying that there are plenty of options out there, so they want the city/whoever to make sure to look elsewhere before just deciding to plop in their backyard. Which is a fair request.

This is more like one of your parents remarrying, and your new stepbrother/sister is rumored to want to shack up in your room, even though there’s an empty room down the hall. You’d be all like, hey parents, why not throw them in that empty room?
