Another Minnesota point guard down: Ridnour sprains ankle

The good news is the Timberwolves are about get J.J. Barea back, because they are hurting again at point guard.

Luke Ridnour went down Monday night with what appeared to be a severe ankle sprain. It was an innocent play where he stepped on Jimmer Fredette’s ankle, but the twist was nasty.

No word yet on his status, but you can expect him to miss a few games at least. This follows on the Timberwolves already losing Ricky Rubio for the season (and fighting through injuries to Barea, Nikola Pekovic and Michael Beasley, just to name a few).

All this is taking a serious toll on the Timberwolves already bleak playoff chances. They have fallen all the way back to the 12 seed and are 4.5 games back with just 12 games to go. That’s too much ground to make up.

There was word on his status hours ago last night. They only expect him to miss one game.

Tough break for the wolves they were a really fun team to watch this year with rubio. They can get to the lottery and get another draft pick and be even better next year.

McHale traded this pick for marko Jaric… so the hornets have it this year

All the “experts” laughed at and scorned Kahn for stockpiling PGs. Now, they are possibly out. Maybe he should have gotten more PGs, not fewer.

Wolves get no 1st rounder this year. Via an ancient trade w the Clips in McHales sucky Reign it’s a bummer so many injuries hit this year but next year looks to be bright.

The wolves get the Jazz first round pick if the Jazz don’t make the lottery.

    The Timberwolves top 6 scorers:

    Kevin Love: MVP Candidate
Nikola Pekovic: Played last night for first time since 3/19.
Luke Ridnour: Rolled ankle last night
Michael Beasley: Has only played in 37 games. Out since 3/27 in latest injury.
Ricky Rubio: Injured on 3/9. Out for season.
JJ Barea: Out since 3/23. Has played in just 30 games.

At the beginning of the season, our PG depth was mocked with Ricky Rubio, Luke Ridnour, and JJ Barea all in camp. Now, for likely at least one game, our PG rotation will be Malcolm Lee and Wayne Ellington.

Plus, we can’t sign anyone from the NBDL because we already have all 15 roster spots filled.
