Report: LeBron James injured finger on non-shooting hand

Mar 27, 2012, 7:34 PM EDT

Indiana Pacers v Miami Heat

You can add this to the list of things that may be causing the Heat to be in a bit of a funk.

LeBron James may have injured — maybe dislocated — the ring finger on his left (non-shooting) hand, according to Chris Broussard at ESPN.

The severity of the injury is not known at this point, but sources indicated the finger might be dislocated. The Heat did not practice Tuesday and had no comment on James’ injury.

The injury, which is to James’ non-shooting hand, occurred in the first half and did not force James to leave the game. Instead, after having it taped by a Heat trainer, he went on to play 41 minutes, scoring 24 points with nine rebounds while making 9 of 21 shots. He then iced his finger after the game.

If it’s on his non-shooting hand he may not miss any games, the Heat are off until Thursday when the play Dallas. James is already playing through some elbow pain but has not missed time due to that.

oh no did baby Bron Bron get a boo-boo owie on his finger-winger?

    • jkmanning18 - Mar 27, 2012 at 10:48 PM

I know right, the poor guy has so many things to deal with already. A declining hairline, lack of clutchness, No rings, and now this? Give the guy a break

      • gmsingh - Mar 28, 2012 at 7:29 AM

The excuses for the Heat not being no. 1 have begun already. Hell, they’re in Miami, so being distracted by the Trayvon incident is a reason for not winning too, right?

  2. lmoneyfresh - Mar 27, 2012 at 8:15 PM

You can add this to the list of things that may be causing the Heat to be in a bit of a funk.

Pretty sure you meant to say, “Add this to the list of excuses we’ll try to come up with for explaining why the heat are losing more games than we had hoped.”

    • rodgersmvp - Mar 27, 2012 at 8:48 PM

I like LeBron, and I think the Miami takes to much heat over their actions. But I have to agree with you. There is no reason to give excuses. The Heat should be the best team in the league with their talent and they are not playing like it. It’s not so much a “ring finger” problem, and more of a “head in the butt problem”.

  3. eaglesandravens - Mar 27, 2012 at 8:26 PM

    lol his ring finger….

    • philtration - Mar 27, 2012 at 9:00 PM

That would be his ring less finger

  4. onlyincleveland0316 - Mar 27, 2012 at 8:27 PM

Maybe we could messages on our shoes! ‘Remember the finger!’

  5. eugenesaxe - Mar 27, 2012 at 8:40 PM

Ring finger? You’re making the abuse too easy…

  6. philtration - Mar 27, 2012 at 9:03 PM

This is a bad break for the Heat.
The Bulls are very lucky that they have no injuries this year.
None of them were banged up during the playoffs last year either.

It would be funny if Dirk Nowitzki walked around pretending his finger was hurt and laughing about it but he is not a jerk like that.
    Right LeBron and Dwyane?

    • tomossriceenoughsaid - Mar 28, 2012 at 1:11 AM

rip hamilton has played 15 games, and drose has missed over ten, that seems like injuries to me, not to mention dengs torn wrist ligaments

      • philtration - Mar 28, 2012 at 10:33 AM

        *sigh*
        I live in Chicago.
I know how many injuries the Bulls have had both this season and last.

      • drunkenjunk - Mar 28, 2012 at 10:40 AM

I’m pretty sure philtration was being sarcastic. Nice try though

    • 700levelvet - Mar 28, 2012 at 8:43 AM

now this is sarcam at it’s finest…….Well Done!!!

  7. sgm405 - Mar 27, 2012 at 9:32 PM

When you say he is “already playing through some elbow pain”, is this actual elbow pain, or the “elbow pain” he never received treatment for after the Cavaliers were eliminated from the playoffs against Boston?

Lebron Dislocated his finger trying to put on Dwayne Wade’s ring

  10. velascochad - Mar 27, 2012 at 9:43 PM

“LeBron James may have injured — maybe dislocated — the ring finger on his left (non-shooting) hand”

it’s a sign! he is not fit to wear a ring! bulls will beat them in the ECF.

    another should-be non-story that will probably reach 30 comments…

    • vicktator - Mar 28, 2012 at 12:29 AM

You do realize that by commenting/complaining, you add to the total that you are complaining about…right?

      • tcclark - Mar 28, 2012 at 2:25 AM

of corse. but one (now two) comments to help reduce further publicity to non-stories is worth it. If people read my comment and think twice about praising or bashing (or making up stupid nicknames where they just put Le in front of words) for a minor injury on the guys off hand, then I’ve done my job.

      • tcclark - Mar 28, 2012 at 2:25 AM

Nobody is going to stop commenting because of a comment you posted. Also, you posted that last comment twice, which added an extra comment to this post. It looks like you are a huge contributor to commenting on this non-story now.

  13. dirtybird2020 - Mar 27, 2012 at 10:34 PM

And last year asik broken fibula in playoffs, what have heats injuries been??? Wade out due to migraines hahaha ridiculous, lebron messed up finger will play tomorrow, usually your on spot with things but i think you bumped your head today

    • philtration - Mar 28, 2012 at 10:31 AM

      Yes I know.
That is why I posted the comment.
The Bulls also had several players that played through injuries in the playoffs last year (Rose, Noah, Boozer, Asik…) and they did not cry about it.

Do yourself a favor and Google “sarcasm”
Did I really have to explain this?

  14. dirtybird2020 - Mar 27, 2012 at 10:37 PM

Not fit to wear the ring, haha that made my day

  15. lakerluver - Mar 27, 2012 at 11:53 PM

Kobe plays in a full body cast, so whatever!!

  16. 4thquartermagic - Mar 28, 2012 at 2:11 AM

Well we know he didn’t injure it while reaching into his pocket so he could tip somebody!

    Heeeyyyoooo!

Seriously though Lebron, keep doing what your doing, everything is turning out perfectly.

  17. asublimeday - Mar 28, 2012 at 2:25 AM

Hey, looks like bad things do happen to bad people.

    He was clearly kidding.

  19. gmsingh - Mar 28, 2012 at 7:26 AM

Let’s be honest, if LeBron has an owie than the whole season should be cancelled.

  20. kappneffect - Mar 28, 2012 at 8:52 AM

hahahahah… no he didn’t …. he broke his ring finger? IRONY.

    Remember his “Elbow” ….

    • kappneffect - Mar 28, 2012 at 8:52 AM

      *dislocated/injured* (not broke)

  21. mgscott - Mar 28, 2012 at 9:27 AM

At least Lebron still has not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6 not 7 but 9 more good fingers.

  22. dexterismyhero - Mar 28, 2012 at 11:25 AM

did he hurt the finger putting on his Hoodie?

  23. atom665 - Mar 28, 2012 at 12:35 PM

What a complete bitch. Look at the injuries in Chicago. No excuses there. No story on why they play the way they do. And let’s no forget Kobe. His whole shooting hand is jacked up. He makes no excuse for it ( although it might contribute to some of his poor shooting). This is why Lefraud will never win a ring. Softer than velvet Charmin.

    • gmsingh - Mar 29, 2012 at 7:20 AM

LeBron reminds me of a bit Steve Martin used to do back in the 70’s: “How to make a million dollars and not pay any taxes: first, you make a million dollars. Then, when the IRS comes to your door and asks why you didn’t pay taxes, you say “I forgot.”” In LeBron’s case it’s “First, you go to the Heat and win the Finals…”

  24. bballdad - Mar 29, 2012 at 8:18 AM

He’s gonna need a mask, and and old lady to massage his neck during time outs because of the concussion. Oh I’m sorry, that was Mamba.
