I have never understood why players like Ronny Turiaf or Derek Fisher think they can just bought out for sucking and go to a title-contender of their choice. You cannot provide veteran leadership at the end of a bench.

The salary cap rules dictate that trades have to be relatively even in terms of the total salary being traded to/from each team. That’s why bench players are often thrown into bigger trades, to balance out those requirements. The team receiving those players often have no need/roster space for them though so they then buy them out immediately or just release them.

Sometimes the player accepts less money than they would have been paid had they stayed with the organization. The team is simply saving money.

Why do these players even get traded when half of them are usually bought out? Why do the teams even agree to trade for that player can someone explain this to me
