He’s right. There are (or at least were) t-shirts and hats saying the Patriots won the 2012 Super Bowl. If one of them fell off the truck en route to the stadium, someone who found it would have cooked up the same theories.

Same reason Bloomberg accidentally ran an obituary on Steve Jobs. Major news outlets keep obituaries on file for high profile people so they can run them immediately without much editing. In the NBA’s case, they would certainly want the Dwight Howard Nets shirt designed and the code written in their application interface so that if/when he’s dealt, they can start selling shirts immediately. I’d bet they have Dwight Howard shirts on file in Bulls and Lakers colors too. Somebody clicked a button they shouldn’t have, end of story.

Agreed. I think he has talked with the Nets and they have agreed to wait until the seasons over. I mean they keep all their picks and who knows… maybe they get lucky in the draft lottery. This is what happens when the Magic drag this process out… make sure the Nets cant make the playoffs this year and then try to act like they have any leverage. I hope they enjoy getting Re-Shaqed and looking at Turkoglu’s contract still on their books.

I think Howard is saying he wants to stay for the season so he can go to a better team as a FA. He knows if the Nets trade for him now the cupboard will be bare behind him and DWill.
