Sure this isn’t the greatest roster in NBA history, but google the roster Kahn had before he took over. McHale left him more garbage than what he has now. Not to mention no first round draft pick that McHale traded for Marco Jarcic. He only good thing about Jarcic is his way hot wife that even he out kicked his coverage.

I’m sure Portland would rather have drafted Michael Jordan over Sam Bowie. You can’t go back and say if they would have drafted player A instead of B. you would be ripping Kahn if he had drafted Curry instead of Flynn, and Curry was a bust and Flynn was a perinnual all-star.

Not only did he open up space to sign Love, but also freed up a significant amount going into free agency next year. Let B-Easy’s contract expire and there should be more than enough money to bring up a damaged Eric Gordon since he seems to not want to re-sign in dirty New Orleans…

David Kahn was a better GM the night of the Flynn pick than you are as a columnist daily. It was nice to be able to actually gramatically understand this column however.

How can people give my comment the thumbs down? What did I say that’s not true?? Would you people not rather have Steph Curry instead of the nothing we have for Flynn?? Would you not like a dominant 7 footer like Cousins rather than a 2 guard that can’t shoot like Wes Johnson?? Be realistic folks, I give the guy some credit, but there’s been a ton of errors….hiring Rambis not withstanding.

I’d argue Adeleman has more influence this year on Love than Rambis did last year. At least Adeleman doesn’t sit Love late in the 4th quarter in a close game. Love would not be in the MVP discussions without Adeleman.

Funny how you try to discredit Kahn by talking about “this years success speaks more of how great Adelman is and not as much about Kahn.” Answer me this question, who hired Adelman?

National and local pundits laughed when they heard Kahn was trying to get Rick Adelman, saying there was NO WAY Adelman would come to Minnesota. Well he did, and thats because Kahn had the patience to extend the coaching search until August/September when Adelman was ready to commit.

I completely agree, and think it is the right thing to do to bring him back one more year. The only thing I keep thinking is what if we drafted a quality 2 guard with either the flynn or johnson picks, this team would be scary good!

Love was a Mchale move. Kahn draft Flynn, hired a coach that didnt want to play love and drafted Johnson over Cousins. Fail!

Kevin Love has carried this team to where it is (and he was a McHale holdover). The Wolves have frail depth compared to the other teams they are competing with for a playoff spot (Nuggets, Blazers, etc).

The roster still sucks. Adelman has to start Luke Ridnour at shooting guard because there is simply nobody else. Two of the three best players on the team were acquired by McHale (Love and Pekovic). Adelman does a masterful job of riding the hot hands of this patchwork roster.

Kahn is an intelligent businessman and is a very hard worker, but I don’t think he’s a very good basketball mind. Not saying he doesn’t deserve to be back, but I’m not necessarily sure if he deserves much praise.

Okay, I give the guy some credit, but let’s be honest……..McHale traded for Love, Kahn had nothing to do with that. The Flynn pick is compounded by the fact that they could have drafted Steph Curry……do they need a 2 that can make shots anywhere/anytime……yes. He’s a bit of a head case, but it would have been worth the risk to take Cousins instead of Wes Johnson too. Throw him out there with Love, Rubio, Curry and Williams…….my God, let’s play! In short, let’s temper our praise of Mr. Kahn.

I think this years success speaks more of how great Adelman is and not as much about Kahn. I think he has done a fair job and is worth extending. He also brought in Ridnour and traded Luke Babbit (who?) for Martel Webster. Both are becoming key role players. Also as much as he gets ripped for the Darko move we do have to face the fact that Darko was pretty key in a handful of our victories over the Clippers. So yeah worth picking up his option I suppose.

I could almost see a 2nd consecutive western conference upset like we did last year with the Spurs and Grizzlies. The Timberwolves just continue to impress me this season.

Well, to be fair, Love acquired in a draft day trade by McHale prior to Kahn joining the Wolves. Love’s improvement has more to do with Love working hard, and to a lesser degree Adelman’s fine coaching this season.

But, one thing that isn’t noticed often is that Kahn did a LOT of work, making a lot of trades to rid the Wolves of a BUNCH of horrible contracts. That did get them in position to have the room to sign Love to an extension.
