Orlando’s Turkoglu suspended one game for touching referee

We told you earlier today we expected this to come down, now it is official.

Orlando forward Hedo Turkoglu has been suspended one game for making contact with an official, the league has announced. He will sit Sunday when the Magic take on the Pacers.

During Thursday night’s game against the Bulls, Turkoglu disagreed with a call, went over to referee Karl Lane and — to make sure Lane was paying attention — grabbed him by the shoulders. Turkoglu got an instant technical — you just cannot make contact with a referee. There was nothing malicious here, but there is a hard and fast line about touching referees.

No surprise here, but you know it frustrates Stan Van Gundy. Everything frustrates Stan Van Gundy

This may actually be a good thing. J Rich should be out too forcing Van Grumpy to use his bench more. We may have some real talent there that just needs playing time. With no practices to speak of it will be interesting to see what they can do.

Right you might have another j linn on the bench awaiting his time to shine.

Anyone remember Garnett slapping away a ref’s arm rather aggressively? No suspension then… Players touch refs every game. As long as there is no malcontent, there should be no suspension.

I saw the game and it just looked like he wanted to talk to the ref. Wasn’t angry or anything.

I’ve seen “stars” touch the refs. Oh well. Turkoglu, if only you sold sneakers or appeared in commercials…

He then proceeded to do the same with two other refs. I guess Europeans are touchy, but here in America, keep your hands to yourself.
