Might sound crazy, but I would definitely trade pau gasol for josh smith and Kirk heinrich. Lakers get a good power forward in return and get an upgrade at point guard

I know that a lot of people simply do not watch Hawks basketball, but Josh Smith has been the MVP of the season this year. When he leaves, the Hawks will no longer be a perennial playoff team, unless they get someone with equal or better skills.

Smith is just scary on defense. He blocks more shots than practically anyone. On offense, his hops gives PGs a great target for easy 2 points. Plus, he’s a vocal leader that isn’t selfish. He’s not a ball-hog.

The bottom line is that if he goes to an organization like the Lakers, or any mature organization, he will help them hoist up a trophy.

Orl should do a 3 team trade deal which sends montae to the magic, then gs gets some defense with jsmoove

I would trade Kevin Garnett for Smith. Celtics get the rest of the year and half of next season to see if he is worth signing long term, the Hawks get him (Smith) off the books and obtain an expiring contract. I can see where the Hawks would feel like they were getting the short end of the stick, but anyone willing to eat the final year of Smith’s contract isn’t going to give away that much for him.

J-Smooth needs to go to a team with a coach who knows how to use his skills, and who can get him to play better and not take those low-per outside jumpers. Coach Karl would be ideal, but I’m not sure the Nuggets want to mess with their chemistry, apart from dealing Birdman.

If Smith gets traded to a team who wants to use him as a scorer first, that would be trouble.

Boston would be interesting…

They way your brain works is terrible. You think K.Martin is a head case and you want to replace him with another head case Josh Smith at 12 -13 million a year? Where is the logic in that?

The Clippers will finish 4,5 or 6 in the West. How is that terrible by any standard? Once you get into the playoffs ANYTHING can happen. Terrible is when you do not make the playoffs, as in years past.

I was just about to say this until I saw your comment. Monta Ellis has been in trade talks for years with Golden State and the new ownership has talked about being very aggressive in terms of making moves. Nothing will happen until they are totally out of the Howard sweepstakes as Monta will likely be a piece involved in that and they have pursued him (even though that is a terrible idea, giving up nice pieces when howard is likely to leave anyways seeing as they aren’t on the list of teams he would sign an extension with). With the trade deadline coming up and Smith asking for a trade, There wont be as much time for talks to happen, but Atlanta would do well to get Monta in a trade if they can and get rid of Smith before the deadline. Joe Johnson can slide to the 3 or Ellis could maybe play point in their offense, I’m not sure how that will work, but the talent of Ellis for Smith is a close match. It would be a huge win for Golden State as Smith fits well in their system, they can slide Thompson in at the 2, get more size and hopefully get rid of Monta’s inept defense while allowing Curry to fully run the team without Monta. I wonder how he would work with Lee also being on the floor, though, and their starting lineup would only have 2 good shooters in Thompson and Curry, Seeing as Wright would probably be moved out of the starting lineup. It isn’t the best deal, but with him asking for a trade so close to the deadline they will have to make moves quickly, and Ellis might be the best they can get, because I don’t see anything they could really get from Boston being better.

John Wall? He can barely drink a beer legally, and you peg him as one of the league’s biggest underachievers? While playing on (possibly) the league’s most dysfunctional roster? Get a clue bud…maybe start with true underachievers like Kwame Brown or Darko, not proven talents..someone isn’t an underachiever just because he has yet to live up to the hype created by you or the media.

trade ellis for him. warriors need some D and then they can slide klay into the starting lineup so he can continue to develop and most importantly, steph will have his opportunity to run a team as long as he can keep that flimsy ankle somewhat healthy

The article’s author is absolutely correct about Smith’s bizarre obsession with taking long jump shots. That would be fine, except that he’s not a good shooter. As good as Smith is, he could be even better if he stopped taking so many or learned to jump shoot much better.
