Let’s stick to the facts. You said he made the veteran play to break up the pass, he fouled him to prevent the dunk. Never said it wasn’t smart, just saying when you foul a guy intentionally, you might get hit going down (and you deserve to). You actually make ZERO mention of Ridnour’s foul in your original post. You’re gonna stand by that as a solid article?

If you watched the game you probably saw the replay of what happened during the commercial break where Blake walked past the ref and said something and then was immediately T’d up. It wasn’t reviewed, they showed video of the moment it happened (at least on the Clippers broadcast that I saw).

Randall Jenkins is the only poster here who got it right . Ridenour fouled Griffin , who was running full bore and about to leap for a monster jam . It was a good foul on Ridenour’s part , but he paid the collateral damage . There was no tech on the foul and the refs did not review the play .
The tech came when Griffin was walking back towards the official and he whispered a ” sweet nothing into the ref’s ear ” Something to the effect of ” You dumb *$%^&* ” The tech was immediately called and Ridenour took the shot . He made his and then Griffin went to the line and missed two .
To all you naysayers wise up ! Both Love and Griffin put on a show that night . Love 39 and 17 and Griffin 26 and 14 . The Clippers came from 13 down and had a chance at the end to go into overtime . CP3 missed the tail end of three freethrows ; thus the Clippers lost by a point .
C’mon Helin , if you are going to report on weather a foul was dirty or not , then you better look at your dirty laundry and reflect if your reporting on this matter is soiled and slanted . I’d say you deserve a flagerant and ejection for this bizzaro observation of yours . At the very least you owe Griffin an apology !

There are veteran fouls to break up a sure dunk in a close game. I did watch it happen, still as smart foul. And in these kinds of cases the play is often reviewed before a technical is called.

Pretty horrible reporting.

1. Ridnour’s “veteran play” wasn’t breaking up the pass (he didn’t, I actually watched the game), it was grabbing Blake’s left arm and starting to pull him down. It’s why the foul was called on Ridnour. If you don’t want to get pulled down by a sprawling player you just took down, you probably shouldn’t foul him. Which brings us to point 2.

2. Blake’s T was called well after the end of the play, in the timeout, after he walked by the ref and said a little too much. The refs were calling T’s for a lot of verbal comments (see KMart’s T that was while the Clips were at the line) and Blake should have kept his mouth shut and got to the line. Which brings us to point 3.

3, Blake missed 4 FT’s in the last 3 minutes or so. Forget his T and KMart’s T, he makes one of those and this goes to OT. 25% isn’t much to ask from the line in the last minutes of a tough game. Additionally, no mention of CP3 making a rare miss on his last FT that also could have tied it?

Sure the T’s were dumb and in the end contributed to a loss, but they weren’t the story because in actuality they were called for verbal comments, not for actual actions.

Griffen gets mugged most of the time out on the court. Even on this play the Guard was already all over Griffin before the pass. Griffin could have pushed him out of his way which would have been more like a Rodman\Pippen push which is much worst. Both guys went down, no harm and it should have been a foul on Ridnour for mugging Griffin prior tot he pass.

Speaking as a non-fan of Griffin, its evident that he is becoming increasingly frustrated by players all too eager to put him on the free throw line rather than watch him throw down uncontested dunks. That’s what we saw here, a lesser player fouling Griffin hard (but cleanly), and him retaliating in outrage. Its fortunate neither player was injured on this play, but until Blake develops some maturity (and some free throw skills) he will continue to hurt his team.

It was pretty dirty because Blake was already nearly on the ground when he reached out for Ridnour. And it’s not like he was gonna hit the ground hard, basically he would have slid to the ground. But instead he grabbed Ridnour and hung on to him and pulled him down.

Don’t make more of it than it was. Griffin was falling and reached for anything that would break his fall. Luke happened to be the closest thing to him. Not a dirty play, just a dangerous one. The technical was enough punishment.

I’m glad I don’t have to root for Blake Griffin. Something about his on-court aura rubs me entirely the wrong way. I am not even sure if I can put my finger on it, but he just comes across as so unbelievably unlikable to me.

Dirty play, should miss a week or two. Nothing wrong with a good hard foul, but that’s just embarrassing. Once again, Kurt’s obvious bias is showing, just like the months of “the sky is falling, the owners are so mean, cry, weep, tears…and oh, by the way, 100% incorrect.

How about the douche move Griffin did when after a basket the ball was rolling away and 2 or 3 times he acted like he was going to pick it up and then didn’t and went down court. I know it isn’t his job and yada yada yada but it is still a douche move. If you aren’t going to pick it up then walk away but don’t follow the ball and keep slightly bending over like you are going to grab it.

As I watched this game it made me think is adding Kenyon Martin to that locker room really a good idea with a young guy like Blake Griffin? Blake does the takedown in the above video and also loses his composure. Sounds like a vintage Martin to me (who also picked up a technical)
