kirk is a great gaurd..he hasnt had a very productive season scoring the ball but he can still penetrate and get his own shot while getting the ball to his bigs..and lets be honest he is a much better improvement over derek fisher..taller,faster,younger..the lakers are getting NO production out of there PG position and kirk would def help in that area

when u crunch the numbers though, they probably wont be able to keep this nucleus intact for long. Korver, Boozer, Deng, Brewer all have big contracts not to mention DRose and Noah. It’s gonna be interesting to see them keep Taj and Omer, both would get nice offers on the free agent market. I know Omer isn ‘t Dwight but he’s a mobile big with a decent not great skillset, and Taj is a beast coming off the bench, no sure how he would fare starting though, but both are commodities in their positions. We’ll see how smart Gar/Pax really is real soon.

thats funny as hell and so true. not sure what point Jim Buss is trying to make with this squad but its not working, even with Dwight this team isn’t going anywhere without a solid guard. Hinrich will offer more than Steve Blake, he’s a solid defender (when healthy) but in this guard era speed rules and even a healthy Hinrich is too slow for CP3, D Rose, Westbrook, D Will etc..

The more I think about it, the more I realize that John Paxon is the most underrated NBA executive in the league. Think about it. Eddy Curry. Jamal Crawford, Kirk Hinrich. Ben Gordon. All players that wanted max-contracts, or in Hinrich’s case, we’re recently given near-max-contracts. Paxon dumps the dead weight before the rest of the league figures out they’re dead weight. Paxon is a great evaluator of long-term talent projections. See DRose. See Joakim Noah. See Omer Asik. See Taj Gibson. He’s built a powerhouse roster of young, coachable players, who play with great team chemistry, and he’s handled the salary cap in a way that allows the team to reward and retain their young stars.

And another thing, have you seen Kirk play this year? We are better off playing Goudelock and/or Morris and let them develope over a guy that 8 milli and slightly better then the trainwreck we have now. Just because he’s better then Fish/Blake well…that’s really not saying much. He’s not the answer. (And I’m not talking about A.I.)

My mom is better then Fisher, but a 31 year old on the decline with no athletisism with a large contract is NOT what the Lakers need…we got plenty of that already. Why split hairs? Especially when it’s already clear the team is not willing to take on money when they could have gotten Michael Beasley for JUST a 1st round (20+) draft pick. Not saying Beasley’s the answer or that I even want him but that would have been a steal.

Ramon Sessions should be our #1 priority. He’s younger, more athletic, and cheaper than Hinrich. I still think that if the Lakers got Sessions and Beasley, they’d be fine.

Ok, no disrespect to KH, but this is the LAKERS we’re talking about here!! Arguably the best franchise in all of sports and this is the best we can do?!! WTF is going on?! I detest David Stern for vetoing the CP3 trade. The LAKERS should try like heck to get Scola and Lowery from the Rockets for Pau and whatever else we’d need to do to make the deal happen. Scola may not be as skilled as Pau but Lowery would be the real prize of that potential deal.
