The NBA has had the worst dunk contest and getting worse for the last 20 years. I’ve seen dunk contests from college, minor leagues, foreign leagues and just short white guys on youtube that are far superior on creativity and difficulty and makes you wonder why the NBA can’t get it right.

His in game dunk was pretty sweet. He could be an elite dunker, or at least better than all the guys we have never heard of. If he wants other big names in, lead the way.

It is pretty sad when in game dunks in the regular season (or in the All Star Game) are better than what you see in the dunk contest. I think part of the problem with the dunk contest is that there are not many “new” things you can do that don’t look over-staged. Nearly every dunk that could be simple and impressive has been done. So, the guys try to come up with something off the wall. And, the stars don’t likely have time to spend between games trying to dream up wacky stuff. So, we get backup players on teams that do have time each day to dream up and practice this stuff.

I would rather see a 2-on-2 tourney, ala the old NBA Jam game, with 4-8 teams playing to 10 or so points. I bet you would see better dunks in that game, and generate more interest, than in the dunk contest itself.

He’s right. Fans aren’t doing him a favor going to see games. He has a product people want to see. LeBron owes people as much as the CEO of Coke owes people.

I agree with KD–LeBron needs to do something to show off his talent since he can’t seem to use it to win anything. His ****-eating grin after giving the ASG away further proves that.

Nate Robinson is about the least legitimate winner in the history of the Dunk Contest. He won the ’06 contest over Iguodala on a dunk that took approximately 486 tries to complete. Iguodala won that contest easily.

I agree with you bro. Think back to the year where Vince Carter murdered the dunk contest. What a ridiculous show he put on. We need to get back to that good sh**. What i saw last night was awful. 86 Kenny Smith too. That clown turned it all into a circus real quick

LeBron James already makes millions and millions of dollars and now he wants a million more if he wins a contest? Really? Maybe if it was a million dollars for your favorite charity, that’d be cool for him to suggest. I can understand if he doesn’t want to do it but to basically say you’re not doing it because the winner doesn’t get a million dollars makes him look worse… at least to me.

I gotta agree that the dunk contest which was a big moment every season for me as a kid is now mostly a waste of time.

I hate all the stupid props. And I do think that the top players if not injured owe the fans a dunk contest at the all star

The fans didn’t make LeBron a millionaire. LeBron’s skills as a basketball player did that. We chose to buy tickets to his team, and buy his jersey, and watch him on TV. For our own entertainment. He doesn’t owe anybody anything, let alone participation in a silly little dunk contest.

Why does LeBron need a million in order to participate? He should do it as a gesture to the fans who make him his hundred millions. I say no props in the dunk contest besides humans. And if you’re going to dunk in the dark, make sure the basketball is fully illuminated. Jason Richardson is the last legitimate winner along with Nate Robinson.
