There are things you can’t do, no matter how frustrated you get with the referees. Throwing the ball at them is one of them.

Boston’s Rajon Rondo has been suspended two games by the league for throwing the ball at an official, it was announced Monday. He is out Monday night against the Mavericks and Wednesday night against the Thunder. Two games that are on the road and already were going to be tough for the Celtics.

The incident occurred with three minutes left in the third, Rondo drives the lane and Greg Monroe essentially lands on top of him, but no foul is called. Rondo gives the official an earful but gets in trouble when he throws the ball at him.

For those saying it didn’t look like much, watch the angle at 3:00 in the video below. His intent appears clear.

I am not a big Rondo and don’t really care for him but that was a little weak. I can see hitting him for a T but it isn’t like he threw a fastball at the ref. It looks like an over reaction but then again none of us know what Rondo said to him before he threw the ball.

It has been a frustrating time for the Celtics. It has been south since the Perkins trade.Let is is what it is.They have been trying to fight through but clearly, nothing is sufficient. They need to start over and they need to get some good breaks doing it.It will be difficiult.

Actually, no. O’Neal, old as he is, is actually averaging more points and the same rebounds as Perkins.

Perkins wasn’t helping the Celtics that last year in Boston. Rumor is he was quite the drinker. But even without that, he isn’t much of a scorer, and the Celts are miserable on offense so far. 81 points last night, 73 tonight. They should have that mid way through the third quarter.

So Kevin Love crushes Scola’s face in and gets 2 games but Rondo gets ejected and suspended for throwing a ball after the ref clearly blew the call? Rondo got hacked.

Yeah, you should be able to huck things at refs when they miss calls.

Kevin Love stepped on Scola’s chest and his foot also hit him in the face. You use this word “crushes” to exaggerate.

They didn’t stand a chance against any one of those teams even with Rondo.

Why not suspend the ref for being worthless?

  7. tonystwocents - Feb 20, 2012 at 7:02 PM

If he gets pulled over by police, does he get to slap the officer? The NBA came weak on this.

His other option was to take his ball and go home. I can’t think of a more immature player in the league right now.

maez23 you’re dead on! These NBA refs suck scum! Not sure who’s worse, them or NCAA refs…

But I like how Rick Carlisle didn’t get suspended for kicking a ball into the stands and hitting a fan. Double standard!

Maybe Rondo thought the ref was choking because he swallowed his whistle. Seems he was a good samaritan.

    Terrible non-call.

But you still can’t throw the ball at the ref.
