When was the last time (before Rose and Nash) the league featured two MVP-trophy-owning point guards?

There are quite a few great point guards out there right now, but that doesn’t mean a team “needs” a great point to compete.

I think its just a statistical anomaly or an aberration of this particular era.

Many of these guys (Rose, Paul, Irving, Wall) were in High School and College when Steve Nash and Jason Kidd were in their primes and really showing the league what a great ball handler and facilitator could do.

If you were in high school in 2004 or 05, everybody wanted to be able to run at full sprint while dribbling like Kidd and pass with a blindfold on like Nash.

What “Queen James” wants is to be handed an NBA title. He couldnt be THE MAN in Cleveland, and he cant even be THE MAN in Miami when he assembled an all-star team for himself. Now he’s whining it’s all because they need an All-Star point guard TOO. The Queen will never been able to carry Jordan’s or Kobe’s jockstrap.

What makes you say that? The “decision” fiasco aside, he’s pretty damn business savvy. Out of all the NBA superstars, he’s one of the ones most likely to have a financial plan, I’d guess.

LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Durant…. Guys like that live big right now, but they’re also pretty damn smart.

These comments in the last couple of days (Really? LBJ thinks about returning to the Cavs?!) would make one wonder if LeBron is just missing a little of that spotlight that’s been shining almost exclusively on Lin and the Knicks.

CP3 or another guard who needs the rock and is used to being a scoring option wouldn’t work very well for the Heat at this point in time. They have three excellent scoring options and would need a point guard who is a distributor in the mold of Nash. They would be much better off with a 10 point-10 assist guard than a 20-5 guard, given how they play the game. Most of these younger guards that LeBron is talking about are score-first types of players who also get teammates involved rather than making the teammates the show.
