All that cap space is being spent on very old players. Only young guys we got outside of Andrew Bynum are Andrew Goudelock, Darrius Morris, Devin Ebanks, Derrick Caracter and Josh McRoberts. Not exactly awe inspiring. Can you see these guys carrying the team when the old guys drop off within the next 2 years. Umm hmm. I thought so.

Now lets get to the meat of the topic. Lets be honest, Pau Gasol is good. Big, long, skilled…and very much on the decline. And lets be even more honest. We are not winning the Championship this year, sadly, I must admit that, with a heavy heart. We should cash out on him before he completely erroads and we have to pay him like a megastar. …..

We need youth, atheletisicm, and a lower payroll to build the team up again and recover from the mistakes known as Walton, Blake, McRoberts, Fisher, Artest and Kobe’s MONSTEROUS contract (not complaning, but daaaaaamn!) which will pay him $83,547,447 for the next 3 years including this one. ( $30,453,805 in his last year for the ’13-’14 season, his 18th in the L)

A roster shakeup is something the Lakers need. Badly. To re-energize the team and infuse it with youth and talent. And if we can get some good throw-ins like Nickola Peckovic, Malcom Lee, Wes Johnson and somehow convince them to swap Ridnour for Blake, we’d be better off now AND for the future. Or maybe don’t even get throw-ins and do it straight up so we really have cap space?
