Yeah Ray Allen would have been a much better pick than Joe Johnson while retaining that “big name” quality. However, I’d rather have Steve Novak, Kyle Korver, Stephen Curry, Anthony Morrow, Matt Bonner, and Ryan Anderson. I’d explained it here:

That would be a little high for the contests. Especially when the judging on the dunk contest is often a little sketchy. Too often a big name player beats out a lesser name guy, regardless of the actual dunks made. And, if the prize were that big, how do you decide who gets a chance? I like that a few lesser name guys get a chance to show something. If the big names wanted in, they could get in. If they don’t want in, more money probably won’t change that. What’s a few million when you make tens of millions every year?

glink, silly idea….5M is extreme for a prize for an exhibition. Also, Ray Allen would be nice to see but he isnt the game and Im sure at his age and stage in his career he welcomes the time to rest for the stretch run as they are playing more than ever before in this crazy condensed schedule.
