I watched Monta Ellis barely miss his 50th point on Tuesday night and it seemed like he couldnt miss. Knowing this, no one will EVER get over 70 points again. Its seems impossible to do it nowadays.

Kobe’s 81 was way more impressive then Wilt’s 100, I agree. And while I’m not one to ever say it will never be done again…I don’t think it will ever be done again

Sorry, previous post should have said “Robert Horry, Jr. is calling Dwight Howard because he knows he ‘cannot’ win without exceptionally more talent than everyone else.” Either way, if you mention Kobe’s name in the same breath with Jordan’s you may as mention Robert Horry’s also.

What I’m trying to figure out is if anyone can repeat how Kobe managed to play on teams with exceptionally more talent than everyone else and managed to be considered a great player. Robert Horry did it and he has 7 rings, yet he is not considered to be in Jordan’s category. Kobe did it with Shaq (the Wilt of his era) and Bynum and Gasol, two highly skilled 7-footers while the rest of the league fields 6’8″ centers.

Now Robert Horry, Jr. is on the phone begging Dwight Howard to come to L.A. because he knows he can win without exceptionally more talent than everyone else. And when Dwight comes and leads the Lakers to the Chip, Robert Horry, Jr. will somehow get the credit. Will this feat ever be repeated? I doubt it.

I agree, Kobe’s scoring game was the best EVER! I have re-enacted it several times using my Kobe Bryant Action Figures (I use the Playoff Edition Action Figure as the one who is doing all the scoring). No one will ever come close to that performance.

81 points if they’re playing in a Rucker Park pickup game during the summer. Basketball is a team sport, and the best players enjoy an assist as much as scoring a basket. In a team sport, sometimes, you have to sacrifice some of your game to assist a teammate’s game, for the greater good of the team. Phil Jackson looked embarrassed the game Kobe scored 81 points, so much for the triangle offense.

Kobe is one of the best. After great Jordan. But he has plenty of time to overtake that in two different ways… Take all the shots and be the all time scoring leader or help his teammates to excel in every game-a total TEAM effort to win more championships.. Don’t try to take it both…

You never watched Wilt’s 100-point game: it wasn’t televised nor filmed.

And, Kurt, it’s not fair to mention Wilt’s teammates fouling without dully noting that the Knicks at that same point were fouling every Warrior but Wilt in an effort to keep the ball from his hands. The end of the fourth quarter was a complete melee, but it didn’t necessarily facilitate Wilt’s scoring more.

I’ve been a basketball fan for alot of years and watched both games. Wilt scoring 100 was a joke and all he did was dunk the ball as his teamates fed it to him. That game with Kobe was the greatest shooting performance that I have ever seen. He was shooting three pointers one after the other. It was if he just couldn’t miss. Nobody will ever do that again in my lifetime. He was incredible. Kobe may not be the player that Jordon was but Kobe is a better shooter than Jordan was. Jordan made a living shooting from around the paint.
