Friday And-1 links: Would you bet on Giants/Knicks to pull a title double?

Here is our daily look around the NBA — links to stories worth reading and notes to check out (stuff that did not get its own post here at PBT).

From, some Super Bowl prop bets: The odds of the Patriots winning the Super Bowl and the Celtics the NBA title in 2012: 40/1. Odds of the Giants and Knicks pulling the same double this year: 50/1. Reality: Those are both sucker bets because neither of those teams is winning an NBA title.

More interesting question: Which city is more likely to pull the NFL/NBA double first: Miami (Dolphins/Heat), New York (Knicks/Giants), or Chicago (Bulls/Bears)?

The Nets players pretty much hate the Prudential Center (their home this season).

Earlier this week LeBron James said Kyrie Irving reminds him of Chris Paul. Here’s a good breakdown of why.

Derrick Rose wants payback on the Pacers for the way they celebrated after beating the Bulls this week.

George Karl is having a lot of fun coaching these Nuggets.

The Denver Nuggets have a fan in Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.

Harold Minor talks about being “baby Jordan” and life after basketball.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra details Eddy Curry’s long, strange trip back to the NBA.

Brook Lopez is disappointed the Nets did not offer him a contract extension.

Don’t expect Joel Przybilla to sign anywhere for at least another week. When he does sign don’t be shocked if it is with Miami.

The Cavaliers have assigned Luke Harangody to the D-League.

The Hawks released guard Donald Sloan to clear a spot for Kirk Hinrich on the roster.

The Warriors have sent Chris Wright to the D-League.

The FIBA World Championship will now be called the FIBA Basketball World Cup. I knew you’d be excited.

I would give it to the Bulls/Bears. Both of those teams are close to breaking into the Superbowl/Finals. I don’t think the Dolphins or the Knicks are close to a championship.

If the dolphins can get a healthy Peyton Manning then I would pick them and the heat to win it first.

Would have to agree with rodgersmvp with Bears/Bulls. I don’t see them actually doing it, but I could at least see both of those teams with a chance to make the playoffs and get a lucky run (if Cutler were healthy). The other pairings each have one bad team.

As a guy that quit on his college team (after being suspended for academic reasons), I find it interesting that Joel Przybilla has been able to hang around the NBA this long. If is close on the salaries, this is a guy that has made in the neighborhood of $42 million over his career, while never averaging more than 6.4 pts/gm, 8.7 rebs/gm, and only averaging over 24 minutes (1/2 of a game) twice (high of 24.9 minutes/gm). Oh, to have been born and grow to over 7 feet, with even a modicum of basketball ability, and then be set for life (if you don’t blow it). Now, he might get a chance for a ring, if he picks the right team to sign on with? Crazy.
