What a disappointment. Granted, it's January 21st. A lot of time for the team to gel. How long does Mike D'Antoni have? At some point, you can't just get away with not playing defense. Hell, change your scheme. Change something. Play some defense. I thought that was why they hired Mike Woodson. Somebody needs to go back to the basics and build from a foundation starting with a commitment on both ends of the floor.

This team needs 2 things. First and most important, they need a real coach. A coach that will demand team defense and team offense. Yeah I'm talking to you Melo. How does one team become worse when Melo arrives and one plays better once he leaves? Selfishness is a trait found in almost all overrated players. 2nd they need a real PG. B.Davis is old and has never really been a team guy. I.Shumpert makes one bad decision after another. He is probably best suited as a SG. You have some good pieces with A.Stoudemire, T.Chandler, C.Anthony, I.Shumpert, L.Fields, ect. Get a coach to mold them to play together and to play defense as a team.

Melo is not a perimeter player. He is an elbow isolation player- a great elbow player. I think he's great passer and a very smart basketball player. He may very become a great 3 point shooter.
Amare is an elbow player- a great elbow shooter; a great pick n role elbow player; and a great scorer close to the basket.
Landry is an elbow player. He has the potential to be a very successful part time perimeter player. But he's an elbow player.
There are only so many elbows...
NBA allows zone- Melo can't consistently iso successfully if the guys defending Amare and Tyson are camping in the lane.
If the ball moves/defense gets out of position before Melo gets the all, a Melo iso is an okay play, not a great play. Melo iso is only a great play when the court is most fully spread- with 1 offensive rebounder and three 3 point shooters.
Tyson
Harrelson
Melo
is the only frontcourt lineup that should run Melo iso as a set play.

Amare's offense also struggles with Melo and Tyson on court- their defenders can also crowd the lane.
Its a shame but the truth is Melo and Amare are too similar on offense. Like having both Tom Brady and Peyton Manning on the same team.

The perfect center for D'Antoni team is a Sam Perkins/Bill Laimbeer type.
Specifically, and in order of importantance a D'Antoni center needs to:
1) Shoot the 3
2) Defensive rebound
3) Guard low post/block the baseline

I don't have much more time to write...but...some ideas...
Start Harrelson. Play Tyson with only Amare or Melo. Kinda unfair but lots of great teams have starter on bench. Tyson would dominate other teams second teams.
If Knicks decided to do that, Knicks could offer Tyson and Toney for Steph Curry and Biedrinis (and then put Biedrinis on our second unit- which is more fair).
Or Knicks could try to acquire more stretch 5 centers- Mehmet Okur...Louis Scola...even Ji Jianlian might be good enough...Rasheed Wallace?

You may not, I may not, but more people do care about the Knicks than the other teams you named. By far. It's silly to criticize a news blog for going with the bigger story.

And it's not just that they're from New York, but that they were "supposed" to be better. No one expected any of the other teams you listed to be over .500.
