Report: Vanessa Bryant scores $75 million in divorce from Kobe

Damn, that’s a big number.

Vanessa is will get about $75 million in her divorce from Kobe Bryant. It’s not unexpected — Kobe Bryant was reportedly worth about $150 million and when he married Vanessa there was no prenuptial agreement. They stayed married 10 years, through the bulk of Kobe’s career.

Now the divorce settlement is coming final and TMZ.com has the details.

Vanessa is walking away with $75 million, which we’re told represents close to half of their total assets, estimated at around $150 million.

TMZ previously reported several transfers of property earlier this year between Kobe and Vanessa. It turns out, based on the property settlement, Vanessa scored a clean sweep, snagging ALL THREE of the former couple’s mansions in the Newport Beach area. Vanessa gets the estate the couple was living in, the estate her mom is living in, and she gets the new estate that had been under construction for 2 years and was just completed.

Why one would want three homes in the same city escapes me, but okay.

So far 2012 has been a painful year for Kobe on a lot of levels.

Kobe has a hell of an accountant if he can convinced the courts he is only worth 150 million.

    • beagle11 - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:18 PM

That does seem a bit light for Kobe

    • bcb1999 - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:25 PM

Agreed…with his endorsements and NBA money, that seems really generous to Kobe in this deal…

    • goforthanddie - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:55 PM

      Exactly what I was thinking.

  2. bozosforall - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:09 PM

She should try out for the Niners cheerleading squad…because she is definitely a gold digger.

    • david8726 - Jan 20, 2012 at 3:53 PM

Why are you labeling her a “gold digger?” If she were a gold digger, chances are she would have divorced him a long time ago. That marriage lasted about 10 years – Not exactly typical of a “gold digger” marriage.

No one should feel bad for Kobe in this case. He’s the one who cheated on her in a Colorado hotel, and I highly doubt the cheating stopped then.

      • BrownsTown - Jan 20, 2012 at 3:56 PM

I just read another article citing California law that any marriage of 10+ years qualifies the spouse to maintain their “standard of living.” Wow, what are the odds that this marriage lasted exactly that long before she pulled the trigger? You could knock me over with a feather right now, I’m so shocked.

      • david8726 - Jan 20, 2012 at 4:09 PM

You’re really that damn cynical that you think Vanessa Bryant, when she was 18, hatched a 10 year plan to divorce Kobe when her “standard of living” could be maintained?

        Give me a break.

      • keyshawn22 - Jan 20, 2012 at 6:51 PM

BrownsTown is exactly right. I dont think at age 18 she set out with an 10 year plan to divorce him but i do believe after the Colorado thing she decided shed just ride it out until the 10 year plan to get the $.

These divorce laws are ridiculous she did what exactly to contribute to earning any of that money??? If someone has a real answer id love to know… Realistically she should get $5 million and one of the houses…these laws need to be changed.

      • fouldwimmerlaik - Jan 23, 2012 at 12:39 PM

She also gets to keep her breast implants and lip implants. That way she doesn’t have to retool for her next gold digging adventure.

  3. dougmanoh - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:11 PM

    Vanessa shoots. She SCORES!!!

    • oumoonunit - Jan 21, 2012 at 11:45 AM

She did, but she needed to go for the max deal after 10 good seasons. That is only about 2 years of Kobe’s salary. How do signing bonuses work in the new CBA again?

  4. dirtydavis - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:25 PM

Kobe is going to be in the league for a long time…

  5. toegoat - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:26 PM

She should hang out with Juanita and her $168M, make a tv show, “Wealthy Ex-wives Club” (or whatever u want to call it)

  6. max20characters - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:27 PM

This is more of a game-winner than Kobe’s buzzer against the Suns back in the day!

  7. max20characters - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:29 PM

Kobe will have $75 Million in 3 years… No big deal.

    • africanballer - Jan 21, 2012 at 1:12 AM

A loss is a loss, wether its marriage, poker, etc. Still hurts

  8. cosanostra71 - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:41 PM

who wouldn’t want three houses in Newport? that’s god’s country!

  9. bearsstillsuck - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:47 PM

Probably divorced him for doing steroids.

  10. goforthanddie - Jan 20, 2012 at 2:57 PM

One mansion for her, one for mom, one for investments.

  11. pl4tinum514 - Jan 20, 2012 at 3:24 PM

This country is so f–ked up. How the hell does a trophy wife get 75 million for being married to the dude who made all the money with (arguably) no help from her?

Just so wrong and retarded on every level imaginable.

    • redbullenergydrink - Jan 20, 2012 at 3:44 PM

Yeah, I agree. You’d think one mansion is enough for her but she needed three? Seriously?! She didn’t work to earn any of them. I don’t even like Kobe but I feel for him!

    • bearsandjazz - Jan 20, 2012 at 3:48 PM

pl4tinum514 – You know whats even more F–ked up that this guy didnt serve Jail time for Raping a girl.As far as Im concerned he got whats coming to him. You Cheat and you pay the price when you get caught. She may be a Gold Digger but he gave her the shovel and a reason to dig.

    • david8726 - Jan 20, 2012 at 3:56 PM

If you cheat on your wife, you lose the right to complain about how much money she gets in the divorce.

  12. BrownsTown - Jan 20, 2012 at 4:49 PM

    david,

You’re really that damn cynical that you think Vanessa Bryant, when she was 18, hatched a 10 year plan to divorce Kobe when her “standard of living” could be maintained?

    Give me a break.

No, but I am saying that once several years into that marriage, when a spouse then cheats on the other person, said other person might see the incentives in sticking it out for another 4-5 years. Sorry if that offends you, Gloria Allred, but the timing is a bit coincidental. So, yes, I am that damn cynical.

    • david8726 - Jan 20, 2012 at 6:51 PM

If you want to be a cynic, whatever. I’m not gonna try and change your personality.

I will point out to you though that no where in the articles about this divorce has there been any mention that she is, in fact, going to be receiving any sort of monthly or annual payments to maintain her “standard of living.”

It sounds as if the assets have merely been divided up, and there’s now a clean break. So, your “timing” of this seems to be irrelevant.

  13. zblott - Jan 20, 2012 at 5:26 PM

This is why you don’t get involved with 17-year-old models when you’re 21 and making bank.

  14. DonRSD - Jan 20, 2012 at 5:32 PM

She is a video hoar. What else did he expect.
No athlete should get married until they retire ala Jeter

    • david8726 - Jan 20, 2012 at 6:52 PM

      Jeter is doing it right.

  15. edwardemanuelson - Jan 20, 2012 at 6:18 PM

Wait, wait… what ever happened to him being worth 360M, like when the divorce was first reported?

  16. fmlizard - Jan 20, 2012 at 7:23 PM

If you are scoring at home that is roughly $20K for every single day they were married. Not counting all the money he spent on her during the marriage.

For that, he could have gotten his own private live-in brothel, multiple housekeepers, a couple au pairs, a world-class private chef, and a couple elite models to just stand and look pretty around the house.

    • fmlizard - Jan 20, 2012 at 7:26 PM

And the sad thing is that he probably had all of those, minus the live-in brothel and models anyway. Meaning she really did do almost NOTHING.

  17. isujames - Jan 20, 2012 at 7:38 PM

where have some of you been hiding @ it came out nearlt a month ago all over the radio airwaves & t.v. through via her own biological dad that she is a gld digger like her mom, was coached by her mom and was going to do this after 10 years.

  18. glink123 - Jan 20, 2012 at 10:55 PM

James Worthy had the right idea. Call up two $1500 a night “escorts” each night you roll into a new town. That’s about $500,000 a year on super-model caliber skank hoes. Do that over a 20-year career, and you spend $10 mil. Much cheaper than $75 mil.

    • billsfanaddict - Jan 21, 2012 at 8:04 AM

this should go up for comment-of-the-year …already

  19. fotydaze - Jan 21, 2012 at 4:32 PM

His dad tried to warn him, should have listened
