He was badly out-coached in the ECF last season? He struggled in all three rounds in the playoffs? Offense was horrid?

What are you talking about? Bulls beat Miami all three times in the season, DESTROYED Miami and game 1 of the playoffs, and lost the next 4. Some of them the Bulls had the lead and gave it away…but in no way is that “badly out-coached”.

It’s the playoffs! Everyone is bringing their A game. It was the first time in Thibs career being a head coach, and it was the first time the Bulls squad played together in the playoffs. Plus going 4-1 and 4-2 in the first and second round isn’t really struggling.

Offense was horrid? There were VERY FEW games when Bulls lacked some offense, but that really doesn’t matter when you have the BEST DEFENSE in the NBA.

When you look at like this: It was his first year coaching a team, won 60+ games, best defense, coached the MVP, made Deng an All-Star, and he brought in the White Mamba.

The only thing in basketball that can beat star players is defense (see 2004 Detroit Pistons). He does have a very questionable offensive plan but changing coaches every year doesn’t help teams either.
