Because he wants to play with Deron Williams and have a team built around them. Deron cant go to the Magic because they don't have cap space to sign both Dwight and Deron. Especially after the contracts Big Baby and Jason Richardson just got even before that they didn't. So imo that isnt happening. Dwight is either gonna be a Laker, Net or Mav. Only a Mav as a free agent if Mavs can move Marion for cap space and amnesty Haywood to get Deron and Dwight with Dirk. Only a Laker if the Magic decide to trade him before the deadline and decide Lakers have the better offer. And a Net if those other two things dont happen as he will gladly sign with the Nets as a free agent with Deron and enough cap space to add some more players possibly resign Brook Lopez to play with them if a Dwight trade doesnt happen.

Of course Howard's Rep is going to deny moving to a team he just played against and beat. The speculation of him not moving there is just as speculative as him moving to Golden State. Until Howard says he does or does not want to move to the Bay, I will believe it. As a Warriors fan, I'm not expecting much nor I'm not totally unconvinced. Howard can get lucrative sponsership deals with Silicon Valley companies and with Adidas. The Warriors already have a good offensive, but lack defensively. Buying (not "renting") Howard, Turkoglu, and Jennicks would be the key. The Warriors would have to trade a healthy Curry, Biedrins, Lee, Udoh, Brown and a first round pick. It's a lot but.a team with Monta Ellis, Nate Robinson, and Dwight Howard sounds like a good team.

I dont think the Warriors have the parts to rent Howard. I think its more likely that Otis Smith was trying to see if he could get GS to take some picks and players for Monta. I mean the Magic arent going to trade Howard...even as a rental... for Steph Curry and Udoh. GS would also have a hard time absorbing Hedo. I love watching the Warriors play....I hope they dont do anything crazy. They got lucky they didnt over Tyson Chandler 10 pts 9 boards and 1.5 blocks isnt worth 14 mill. If they want that I am sure they could trade for Okafor... he has virtually the same stats year after year.

I don't understand what this new ownership group is trying to accomplish. Hasn't the failed attempts to get other FA centers like Chandler a sign that the team needs to improve before making the big splash?

I hope this rental of Howard is just smoke and mirrors. Decimating the team depth and youth for a rental of Howard just does not make sense and shows how delusional the owners are if they think Howard will suddenly change his mind because he likes it in Oakland. Howard is so rich, he could buy Oakland. The only way this team improves is to get good draft picks and continue to add to the quality players already on the roster.

Stop wasting money on this season by signing centers like Kwame to $7M contracts. Stop thinking Howard is the solution. Tank the season and get a top 6 draft pick...any pick above slot 7 is going to another team. But this is the same old Warriors and they will win just enough games to get the 8th pick in the lottery...just predictable Warriors franchise.
